USADA issues statement after rumors of payoff in Jon Jones case

Tom Taylor - September 13, 2018

The circumstances of Jon Jones’ dealings with the United States Anti-Doping Agency are extremely mysterious. It’s been well over a year since the former light heavyweight champion’s failed drug test, which came to light after his July, 2017 fight with Daniel Cormier, yet we still have no answers with respect to his punishment. This has led some members of the MMA community to speculate that there could be some kind of seediness going on with Jon Jones’ case — perhaps even a financial payoff to accelerate his return to the cage.

Jon Jones returns fire at "extraordinary liar" Colby Covington

Tom Taylor - September 7, 2018

UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington — who will quietly be stripped of his title when Tyron Woodley and Darren Till battle for the welterweight title at UFC 228 this weekend — has had plenty to say about his former college roommate Jon Jones in the recent past. Speaking in a recent interview with RTSport, Jon Jones had the chance to launch some return fire. Jon Jones’ main gripe with Colby Covington, he says, is the way he bends the truth. In that way, Jones feels Covington is quite similar to Chael Sonnen.

Daniel Cormier replies to Jon Jones' latest Twitter barb: "That's actually a good one"

Tom Taylor - September 5, 2018

Over the last few days, UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones have been involved in a heated quarrel on social media. One of the latest verbal volleys came from Jon Jones, who claimed that his 2017 knockout of Cormier was the result of strategy and timing, not the result of steroid use.

Tom Taylor - September 4, 2018

Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier’s latest social media beef continues to pick up steam. Jon Jones: 'I had to find a place in my heart to be happy' for Daniel Cormier after UFC 226

Drake Riggs - September 4, 2018

When fighters find themselves embroiled in heated rivalries, they forever end up intertwined with one another. Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier are no exceptions to that. The history between the two is clear yet ugly all at the same time. Jones was the once ruler of the 205-pound division but due to his own doing, he no longer is able to compete as actively as we expected him to be doing so from 2015 to now.

Jon Jones talks Cormier vs Lesnar and a potential trilogy bout with “DC” at heavyweight

Chris Taylor - September 1, 2018

It is no secret that former UFC light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones (21-1 MMA) is not a fan of Daniel Cormier. With that said, “Bones” still has a ton of respect for “DC’s” talents and believes that Cormier will have no issue getting by former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar in their upcoming yet to be announced heavyweight title fight.

Jon Jones 'inspired' by Conor McGregor, talks fight with Khabib Nurmaomedov

Drake Riggs - August 31, 2018

When it comes to the big stars in MMA and more specifically the UFC, the names come few and far between. Which in a way can make them stand out even more. One of those among the big-name stars in the UFC hasn’t been in the spotlight all that much the past few years…or he has but for the wrong reasons.

Anthony Smith believes Jon Jones will be next after what he does to Volkan Oezdemir

Chris Taylor - August 25, 2018

Anthony Smith (30-13 MMA) has scored back-to-back first-round knockouts over former UFC light heavyweight champions Rashad Evans and Shogun Rua in his most recent octagon appearances. “Lionheart” will now face arguably the biggest challenge of his mixed martial arts career when he squares off with knockout artist and former division title challenger Volkan Oezdemir at UFC Fight Night 138 on October 27 in Moncton.

Luke Rockhold slams Brock Lesnar, Jon Jones: "These guys should be suspended for a long time"

Tom Taylor - August 17, 2018

Former UFC and Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold believes fighters who fail drug tests — particularly those who fail multiple drug tests — should face harsher punishments from the UFC and the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). Speaking with MMAjunkie recently, Luke Rockhold discussed former UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones, who has recently been teasing a comeback, and former heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar, who has recently been linked to a fight with heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier. In his eyes, both of these men should be facing lengthy suspensions for their recent failed drug tests.

Jon Jones promises "you’ve never seen anything like what’s coming"

Thomas Taylor - August 16, 2018

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones continues to tease his long-awaited return to the cage. Though his return is not set in stone just yet, he assures that, when he does make his comeback, he’ll be better than ever. Considering he’s widely considered one of the greatest fighters of all time, that’s definitely saying something. Every part of the journey matters. Triumphs and setbacks all combine to make the climb what it is supposed to be. My feet are dug in and I have clear motivation as to what I’m going after and why. I promise you’ve never seen anything like what’s coming #comebackseason

Coach: Jon Jones is developing one-strike KO power

Thomas Taylor - August 11, 2018

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones holds some of the most impressive victories in MMA history, having finished some of the best light heavyweights on earth in their competitive primes. That said, there aren’t a lot of one-shot knockouts on his resume. Instead, the former champion has delivered most of his stoppages by TKO or submission. Apparently, that could soon change.

Curtis Blaydes wants Stipe Miocic, then Daniel Cormier, then Jon Jones

Tom Taylor - August 10, 2018

If all goes according to the UFC’s plan, the next crack at UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will go to former champion and WWE star Brock Lesnar. While a Cormier vs. Lesnar fight is almost certain to do big business, it’s caused a bit of a headache for the UFC’s top heavyweight contenders, such as Curtis Blaydes. Blaydes, like many members of the MMA community, feels that Lesnar doesn’t belong anywhere near a UFC heavyweight title shot. Lesnar, of course, hasn’t won a fight since 2010, when he choked out Shane Carwin. Though there was briefly a win over Mark Hunt on his record in 2016, that win was overturned when he tested positive for a banned substance.

Tom Taylor - July 18, 2018

UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington has never been shy when it comes to comments on his former roommate Jon Jones. His latest comments on Jones, however, might just take the cake. Jon Jones sends word of encouragement to Francis Ngannou after disappointing UFC 226 loss

Tom Taylor - July 10, 2018

Francis Ngannou’s UFC 226 battle with Derrick Lewis was an undeniable disappointment, as he failed to mount any meaningful offense over the course of the three-round fight, and ultimately lost a unanimous decision as a result. After a brief period of silence, a disappointed Ngannou took to social media to explain his performance. Apparently, he let the residual nerves from his last fight — a decisive decision loss to Stipe Miocic — affect the way he fought at UFC 226.

Manager shares Jon Jones' private reaction to Daniel Cormier's UFC 226 win

Tom Taylor - July 10, 2018

UFC light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier’s incredible UFC 226 knockout defeat of Stipe Miocic, which earned him the UFC heavyweight title, generated reactions from a host of MMA stars. One fighter in particular, however, was quite quiet in the immediate fallout of Cormier’s big win: his arch rival, Jon Jones. In the days since Cormier’s incredible win, Jones has made a few comments on social media, but none have addressed Cormier directly. According to Jones’ manager Malki Kawa, however, Jones had plenty to say behind closed doors.
