Ahead of UFC 232, several Jon Jones drug tests turned up trace amounts of the banned substance turinabol. Despite these test anomalies, the light heavyweight legend was still allowed to fight — albeit in Los Angeles, not Las Vegas — and ultimately defeated Alexander Gustafsson in the card’s main event. Unfortunately, it was learned earlier this week that a drug test administed by Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) on the night of the UFC 232 weigh-ins also turned up traces of turinabol in Jones’ system.

Yesterday afternoon it was announced that steroid metabolites had once again surfaced in Jon Jones UFC 232 drug tests with VADA. The same trace amounts of the steroid Turinabol, which forced UFC 232 to be moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles so Jones could be licensed to compete, were once again discovered by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency.

At long last, we should have some answers about the futures of Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov on January 29, when the Nevada State Athletic Commission reviews the cases of the two lightweight rivals, who engaged in an ugly post-fight brawl after their UFC 229 title fight. No picograms of the M3 metabolite, which was the source of all the controversy and drama last month, were found.

According to Brett Okamoto of ESPN, Jones was tested on fight night (December 29) and the results of those tests were clean. The most important detail of these test results, which were made public by California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster, is that no traces of the M3 metabolite were found in Jones’ system.
