Dustin Poirier sent a stern message to UFC CEO Dana White after he knocked out Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299 on Saturday.

Poirier entered the fight as the underdog and many were writing off the former UFC interim lightweight champ following his knockout loss to Justin Gaethje back in July. In the first round, Saint-Denis had a ton of success and to begin the second round, the Frenchman had Poirier’s back.

However, Dustin Poirier was able to get back to his feet and then knocked out Saint-Denis with a solid right hook. It was a great performance from ‘The Diamond’ and after his win, he went up to Dana White and gave him a message.

“It looked like I was talking to Trump, I was talking to Dana… I said ‘Hey, you want me to fight this young motherf*****s, huh? This is what happens.’ That is what I told him,” Poirier said on The MMA Hour.

Although Dustin Poirier told White that is what happens when he fights the up-and-comers he says he does respect Saint-Denis. He knew it would be a tough fight, but was glad to prove the doubters wrong once again as he pulled off the upset win.

Poirier also says he told Benoit Saint-Denis to take time off to make sure his brain is fully healed before he returns to the Octagon again. He says he knows the Frenchman has a solid future in the sport but warns him to not rush back as health is the most important thing in the sport.

With the win over Saint-Denis, Poirier improved to 30-8 and one No Contest and returned to the win column after his KO loss to Justin Gaethje. Despite ‘The Diamond’ only being on a one-fight winning streak he may get a title shot next time out as both he and Islam Makhachev have expressed interest in making the fight happen in June.
