Drew Dober believes he’s the new Donald Cerrone.

Dober is set to return to the Octagon in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 85 on Saturday against Renato Moicano. It’s a big fight for the lightweight division, as Dober gets to fight ahead of him in the rankings.

Drew Dober is currently ranked 15th at lightweight while Moicano is 13th, but the knockout artist says he isn’t paying much attention to that. Instead, he says he just wants to be active in 2024 and is willing to fight anyone, anywhere, any place, which is why he’s embracing the Donald Cerrone moniker.

“I think Chandler is going to hold off for that Conor fight, who wouldn’t? We all want that red panty night. For me, it’s whoever is available as soon as possible. I don’t know how Saturday is going to go. I might need time to heal up, but if I don’t, I want to get back in there,” Drew Dober said at UFC Vegas 85 media day.

“My objective is to have more fights, not the special fights. I’m the type of guy that will fight unranked fighters. I’ll fight whoever, whenever. I’m like the new Donald Cerrone. Just throw me in there, I’ll get the job done. In 2024, I’m looking to fight four times. Whoever is available,” Dober added. “If you want me to say some names, I know we got, Dan Hooker (Rafael) Fiziev, Jalin Turner, up there. All three would be some fun fights, some are injured, some aren’t available. We will see who becomes available and when it’s time, and I’ll be there.”

Although Dober wants to be as active as possible, if he beats Renato Moicano at UFC Vegas 85, he likely would get someone in the top 10. Yet, Dober says he doesn’t care about that, as he would rather fight more often against unranked opponents than fight ranked guys.

Dober has been in the UFC since 2013 and has a record of 13-8 and one No Contest in the promotion. In the UFC, Dober has picked up notable wins over Bobby Green, Terrance McKinney, Alexander Hernandez, and Nasrat Haqparast among others. He has also shared the Octagon with Islam Makhachev, Beneil Dariush, and Olivier Aubin-Mercier.
