UFC legend mocks Dana White’s Alex Pereira GOAT claim ahead of UFC Freedom 250

A UFC legend called Dana White’s bluff on his recent controversial GOAT claim about Alex Pereira ahead of UFC White House.
Alex Pereira enters UFC Freedom 250 at the White House with the opportunity to become the promotion’s first three-division champion. Pereira, who vacated the UFC light heavyweight belt earlier this year, will face former interim titleholder Ciryl Gane in the UFC Freedom 250 co-main event.
Ahead of UFC Freedom 250, UFC CEO Dana White claimed that Pereira will surpass Jon Jones as, in his opinion, the greatest fighter in the promotion’s history if he defeats Gane. White’s remarks have drawn mixed reactions on social media, with many pointing out White’s previous stance towards Jones before their recent falling out.
After Jones’ recent request to be released from the UFC, White took a hard stance in supporting Pereira ahead of UFC Freedom 250. But one of the biggest fan favorites in UFC history isn’t buying White’s sincerity.
Matt Brown: ‘No one’s buying’ Dana White’s GOAT claim about Alex Pereira
In a recent episode of MMA Fighting’s The Fighter vs. The Writer, former fighter Matt Brown reacted to White’s hot take about Pereira ahead of UFC White House.
“It’s promoter talk,” Brown said of White’s Pereira claim.
“It’s pretty simple, and we can just narrow it down to that and that’s Dana talking what he’s supposed to talk. No one’s really buying it. Maybe some Brazilian fan of Alex Pereira who doesn’t really watch UFC is buying it.
“I don’t think any halfway knowledgeable person is buying it.” (h/t Bloody Elbow)
Despite Brown’s questions, White doubled down on his UFC GOAT claim during a recent press scrum. He also guaranteed that the Pereira vs. Gane winner would face undisputed champ Tom Aspinall later this year.
