Dana White announces UFC 300 main event

Dana White has finally announced the main event of UFC 300.

White revealed the matchup on social media on Saturday, as the UFC CEO announced that light heavyweight champ Alex Pereira will defend his belt against former light heavyweight title holder Jamahal Hill in the headliner of the historic card. The fight comes together after months of speculation on who would headline the card.

Dana White spoke about the problems he has had getting together the headliner, but now finally has the main event set less than two months from the card.

“There are so many twists and turns, and crazy f***ing shit going on behind the scenes of UFC 300… Jon Jones is not involved. We have one more slot to fill mid-level, and then we have the main event… I know what I’m trying to do [for the main event], but what I’m trying to do and what’s gonna happen could end up being two completely different things. Unless I completely f***ing change everything. It’s fascinating. There could actually be a documentary right now being shot of behind the scenes to build UFC 300. That’s all I’m going to say,” White said on the Full Send Podcast.

Alex Pereira (9-2) won the UFC title back in November with a KO win over Jiri Prochazka. To earn the title shot at 205lbs, he scored a split decision win over Jan Blachowicz to return to the win column after a KO loss to Israel Adesanya to lose his middleweight title. Periera won the belt by TKO against Adesanya in their first meeting in MMA.

Jamahal Hill (12-1 one No Contest) is coming off a decision win over Glover Teixeira in January of 2023 to win the light heavyweight title. However, he had to vacate the belt after tearing his Achilles. Hill holds notable wins over Thiago Santos, Johnny Walker, and Jimmy Crute among others.
