Pros react after Ilia Topuria KO’s Alex Volkanovski at UFC 298

Tonight’s UFC 298 event was headlined by a men’s featherweight title fight between Alex Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria.

Volkanovski (26-4 MMA) had entered the contest looking to rebound, this after suffering a nasty knockout loss to Islam Makhachev in a short notice fight for the promotion‘s lightweight title at UFC 294 last October. ‘The Great’ entered tonight’s event having never lost at featherweight and was looking to defend his 145lbs title for the sixth time when took to the Octagon this evening.

Meanwhile, Ilia Topuria (15-0 MMA) entered tonight’s headliner sporting a perfect professional record in MMA. ‘El Matador’ had gone 6-0 inside the UFC prior to tonight’s affair, with four of those six wins coming by way of stoppage. In his most previous effort this past June in Jacksonville, Topuria had scored a unanimous decision win over Josh Emmett.

Tonight’s UFC 298 main event resulted in another sensational knockout victory for Ilia Topuria. After likely being outpointed in the opening round, ‘El Matador’ came out of the gate strong in the second frame and ultimately was able to put Alex Volkanovski away with a huge combination. The title-earning victory improved Topuria’s professional record to a perfect 15-0.
