Dan Henderson teases potential combat sports comeback: “Bare knuckle? YouTube boxing?”

By Josh Evanoff - October 23, 2023

It appears that former UFC title challenger Dan Henderson might be making a comeback.

Dan Henderson

‘Hendo’ is one of the sport’s most beloved fighters, having competed from 1997 to 2016. In that time, he became a PRIDE champion, and Strikeforce champion, and faced some of the biggest athletes the sport has ever seen. Furthermore, Dan Henderson fought for the UFC title on three different occasions.

The last of which came in October 2016 at UFC 208. That night saw Dan Henderson suffer a unanimous decision loss to then-middleweight champion Michael Bisping in a high-profile rematch. In keeping with his pre-fight comments, the longtime contender retired from MMA.

However, seven years on from that night, it seems that Dan Henderson is gearing up for something. On Instagram, the former UFC middleweight contender showed himself presumably cutting weight. Along with the photo was a question about bare-knuckle or YouTube boxing, while adding that an announcement was on the way.

What’s next? Bare knuckle? YouTuber boxing? Some new things coming this week… (That weight cut)” – Henderson wrote on social media earlier this week.

If Dan Henderson were to return to combat sports, it would be his first appearance in seven years. Currently 53 years old, some are likely worried about his age, and potential comeback. Although, 55-year-old Pat Miletich came out of retirement earlier this month, and performed admirably against Mike Jackson.

Nonetheless, a comeback for ‘Hendo’ would be a high-profile affair. As of now, no other promoters have shown any public interest in the former UFC title challenger.

What do you make of this news? Do you want to see Dan Henderson return to fighting? Who do you they he should face if he does?
