The Marcelo Garcia black belt who was brought in for the UFC 202 training camp to prepare for Nate Diaz is still a part of McGregor’s UFC 205 camp and now considers McGregor his Irish brother. “I’m here for him”, Danis said in a report from The Mac Life. “We help each other. I wouldn’t say I’m just helping him because he also helps me a lot. My mind – everything. We’re a good tag-team, I think. He’s my brother from Ireland. I have my brothers back home in New York and now I have my brothers here too.”

The scene garnered a lot of attention just prior to their UFC 202 rematch. It also got the attention of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which handed down the $150k fine as well as 50 hours of community service.

On Monday, the Nevada State Athletic Commission ruled a stiff penalty on Conor McGregor for his involvement in the water bottle fiasco at the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference at the MGM Grand. The incident involved Team McGregor and Team Nate Diaz in an object-throwing war with press getting caught in the middle of it all. “The Notorious” was fined five percent of his disclosed salary for the main event fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 202. Given that the brash Irishman earned a UFC record-setting disclosed pay of $3 million dollars, the fine equated to a whopping $150,000. In addition to the six-figure fine, Mcgregor was also ordered to 50 hours of community service and will have to participate in an “anti-bullying campaign for the commission,” according to a report from MMA Fighting.

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor left the MMA world stunned back in April when he took to social media to announce his retirement ahead of UFC 200. At the time, McGregor was slated to fight Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 200 in a highly anticipated rematch. While the MMA community speculated as to whether or not McGregor’s retirement was real, or simply a negotiation tactic, McGregor and his team maintained that he featherweight champ was truly retired. It was only when UFC President Dana White announced that McGregor’s retirement would result in him being stripped of the featherweight title, and would have USADA ramifications that McGregor revealed that he wasn’t retired. Ultimately however, McGregor refused to fly to Las Vegas to do a press conference for the event, and as a result was subsequently pulled from the entire card.

During the course of the press conference McGregor was asked about his prediction for the fight. The featherweight champ responded by saying that he would knock Alvarez, who has only been finished once in his 13 year MMA career, out in the very first round.
