Exactly like Conor McGregor said he was going to do, he went to Las Vegas to meet with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) to negotiate his fine so he could apply to get his boxing license in the state and move forward with putting together the fight against Floyd Mayweather. “I love the Vegas commission,” McGregor said in January during his pay-per-view interview in Manchester. “We’ve come to an understanding. I’m gonna fly out there and fix it. I’m gonna get my Las Vegas boxing (license) and then we’ll see where the f**k Floyd’s at.”

Earlier this year, news surfaced that former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre would be returning to the Octagon this year to fight UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping in a highly anticipated showdown for Bisping’s middleweight title. While no official date for the fight was set, UFC President Dana White confirmed that the two men would fight this year. Since then however, despite Georges St-Pierre and Bisping doing a press conference together, no official date has bene given for the fight. As a result, Bisping has now threatened to take away GSP’s title shot and give it to Yoel Romero. Following Bisping’s consideration of offering the fight to Romero, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley called for the fight against Bisping.

Given this, it would also go down as one of the most lucrative fights – if not the most lucrative fight – in the history of fighting sports.

While conflicting reports have continued to emerge regarding a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather scrap, one many has reportedly confirmed that a fight is indeed official. Chael Sonnen recently took to social media to announce that a fight between McGregor and Mayweather was indeed “on” leaving fight fans confused and skeptical as to where the info came from. While Bob Arum recently revealed that the UFC is the biggest obstacle in securing a deal for the fight, Sonnen has now revealed his source for the report that McGregor vs. Mayweather is official.
