Khabib Nurmagomedov reacts to Conor McGregor situation

By Tom Taylor - July 26, 2018

Conor McGregor is a free man. During a Thursday court appearance, the Irish MMA star was cleared of all felony charges, and handed a few minor punishments for his infamous April rampage in Brooklyn. This means is that McGregor will soon be able to return to the Octagon, should he so choose.

If McGregor does return to the cage, it’s more than likely that it will be to a title fight with undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Shortly after Conor McGregor emerged from court, Nurmagomedov took to social media with a short-but-sweet reaction to the situation.

“#SendMeLocation,” is all he said.

While nothing is set in stone with respect to Conor McGregor’s return to action just yet, it sounds like something that he and his team are keen to sort out soon.

“Things are off to a good start,” McGregor’s manager Audi Attar told ESPN shortly after Thursday’s court proceedings ended, discussing negotiations between McGregor and the UFC. “I think it’s just about getting back to a place where everyone’s happy. Because at the end of the day, we had a great relationship. We’ve done great things together. We’ve made history together. There’s no point that that shouldn’t be continued.”

“I’ve heard October, I’ve heard November, I’ve heard December,” Attar added, discussing possible timeframes for McGregor’s return. “The reality of it is, none of them are real until the deal is finalized.”

“I’m confident that he wants to fight again this year. Whether he fights again this year is dependent on us getting the final deal done.”

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani has also reported that Conor McGregor’s team is eyeing UFC 229 on October 6 as a possible setting for his much discussed showdown with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“Oct. 6 in Las Vegas is the date they want for Conor-Khabib,” Helwani reported. “But they need to get a deal done first.”

Do you think we’ll see Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor fight this year?
