Daniel Cormier speaks on alleged X hack after leaked ‘fake’ Eric Trump DMs

Daniel Cormier addressed the controversy surrounding alleged DMs between himself and Eric Trump before UFC Freedom 250.
UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier was on the call for arguably the promotion’s biggest event last weekend at UFC Freedom 250. The seven-fight card at the White House lived up to lofty expectations, culminating in a massive upset by Justin Gaethje in the main event.
As the knockouts tallied up at UFC Freedom 250, Cormier was at the center of a social media firestorm.
During the event, Cormier’s X account posted a tweet with screenshotted direct messages with Eric Trump, the son of U.S. President Donald Trump, asking for insider advice on gambling lines for UFC Freedom 250. Cormier’s account exposed Eric Trump’s alleged request for betting advice and scolded him for the inquiry.
Cormier later came out and clarified that his X account had been hacked and the messages were fabricated. That hasn’t stopped many of Cormier’s detractors and critics from expressing skepticism on the controversy.
Daniel Cormier: Sponsors, national media has reached out about Eric Trump controversy
In a recent video posted to his YouTube channel, Cormier explained his side of the controversy.
“I’m getting messages from massive news outlets, news channels, stations, asking me for comments on things that I have no right to be speaking about. I’m no politician, I’m an idiot fighter that loves sports, and loves his country,” Cormier said.
“I get to the UFC event on Sunday. Two of the social media people… this is at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, and they’re talking to me about something I have no idea is going on. I had no idea how long the [messages] were up, and how long it took to take them down. Whoever hacked my Twitter, they posted, took it down because they thought that people were going to believe stuff like that. And at the end of the day, I’d never go to Twitter and post that, after engaging in those conversations. It’s not what I do!
“People were asking me why I deleted the tweet, but I had no idea what was going on,” Cormier continued. “I’m still barely able to get into my Twitter account as of this morning. Been trying to work with Twitter to get back into my account, because during [UFC Freedom 250], they told me to completely change it…I’m getting contacted by sponsors because of this thing. I’m annoyed, frustrated, because I’m telling you guys it’s just not true. I understand the trolling and all that, but I’m telling you straight up, [Eric Trump] didn’t come up to me and ask me those things. He doesn’t know me, and we don’t follow each other on social channels.”
As of this writing, neither Eric nor Donald Trump has publicly commented on the controversy surrounding alleged direct-message conversations with Cormier. The UFC also hasn’t issued a public statement on the incident.
