Wednesday night, ESPN held their annual ‘ESPY Awards’ show.

Up for nomination from the UFC were UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm, and UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler.

McGregor took home the award for ‘Best Fighter’, beating out Robbie Lawler, Gennady Golovkin, Canelo Alvarez, and Roman Gonzalez. Unfortunately for McGregor, he didn’t win the ‘Best Breakthrough Athlete’ award, which went to Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta.

Holly Holm’s UFC 193 knockout win over Ronda Rousey, earned her the award for ‘Best Upset’, but wasn’t enough for her to win big in the ‘Best Play’ category.

Both fighters have fights coming up, with Holm fighting Valentina Shevchenko at ‘UFC on FOX: Chicago’ later this month, while McGregor is currently gearing up for his UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz.
