Cameron Smotherman shares video update after horrifying faint at UFC 324 weigh-in

UFC bantamweight prospect Cameron Smotherman shared a message with fans after a horrifying incident at the UFC 324 weigh-in.
UFC fans have waited weeks for fights, and we’re just hours away from the promotion’s hiatus concluding this Saturday at UFC 324. The card is headlined by an interim lightweight title fight between fan favorites Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett.
Before the highly-anticipated action, fighters up and down the card were set to weigh in on Friday morning to make their bouts official. Two fighters, Deiveson Figueiredo and Alex Perez, missed weight and will forfeit 25% of their purses.
But it was bantamweight prospect Cameron Smotherman’s appearance at the weigh-in that caused a stir among fans, pundits, and fellow fighters.
After successfully weighing in for his bantamweight bout with Ricky Turcios (135.5 lbs), Smotherman fainted as he exited the stage, falling face-first. He was carried out by several teammates and UFC medical staff before undergoing treatment and initial evaluations.
Luckily, Smotherman is medically okay and will not compete this weekend against Turcios after the fight was canceled by the UFC brass.

“Obviously, I’ve gotten a lot of messages, and I appreciate all of the genuine concern about me,” Smotherman said.
“I’m completely okay, I’m good. I’m not entirely sure what happened. I see a lot of people online saying ‘Those crazy weight cuts’ and stuff like that – I genuinely didn’t cut much weight for this fight. Came in pretty low, but over the course of this week, I didn’t cut much. Not entirely sure what happened, and I have some more tests and stuff to take in the coming weeks to get to the bottom of it.
“For all the people saying I must’ve done a crazy cut, I cut very, very little weight,” Smotherman continued. “I’m not sure what happened, but I appreciate all the concerns. I’m completely okay, and I’ll hopefully be back soon. I apologize to my opponent.”
Smotherman entered UFC 324 looking to snap a two-fight skid. As of this writing, it’s uncertain if the UFC will reschedule Smotherman vs. Turcios or will move forward with alternative matchups.
