Many were shocked to hear that MMA journalist Ariel Helwani was banned from all UFC events prior to UFC 199’s main event bout between Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping over the weekend. Helwani broke the news that Brock Lesnar would be returning to fight in the UFC prior to the UFC making the announcement during the UFC 199 pay-per-view broadcast, which apparently didn’t sit well with the heads of the UFC.

Helwani spoke on “The MMA Hour” on Monday to address the fiasco and his meeting with UFC President Dana White where he was kicked out of the UFC 199 event and banned as a journalist after breaking the news of Brock Lesnar’s return to the Octagon ahead of the organization’s announcement.

Shocking news hit the world of MMA on Saturday night when MMA journalist Ariel Helwani tweeted that he was kicked out of UFC 199 just before the main event between Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping. Bisping went on to shake up the middleweight division, winning the UFC title after knocking Rockhold out in the first round and Helwani was not able to cover the fight as a journalist.

Yesterday evening Ariel Helwani announced on Twitter that he had been removed from Saturday’s UFC 199 event in Los Angeles by Zuffa staff members prior to the fight cards conclusion and was told that he and his friends were now “banned for life”. I was escorted out of the building by Zuffa staff before the main event. Credential taken away, too. Didn't see Bisping realize his dream.
