Former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva was supposed to fight Uriah Hall at UFC 198 in Curitiba, Brazil last month, however ‘The Spider’ was forced to undergo surgery to remove his gallbladder the week of the fight. Silva set his sights on a return to the Octagon at UFC 200, hoping to avenge his loss to Michael Bisping earlier this year. Chael Sonnen initially reported that Silva vs. Hall had been rebooked for UFC 200, however that is no longer the case.

Former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva has been out of action since his UFC London loss to Michael Bisping earlier this year. ‘The Spider’ was slated to fight Uriah Hall in a highly anticipated matchup at UFC 198, however he was forced out of the bout after it was revealed that he would need his gallbladder removed. While Silva has intentions of fighting at UFC 200, there has so far been no word yet on whether or not he will be able to fight on the card.

According to former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen, a highly anticipated middleweight fight between Uriah Hall (12-6 MMA) and Anderson Silva (33-7 MMA) will take place at July’s blockbuster UFC 200 event in Las Vegas. No official announcement has been made by the UFC, but this is what Sonnen had to say during his “You’re Welcome” podcast:

Several weeks ago, Anderson Silva was slated to fight Uriah Hall on the main card of UFC 198 in Curitiba, Brazil. Unfortunately for ‘The Spider’, he was forced off the card after it was determined that he would need his gallbladder removed. Despite that, Silva set his sights on a return at UFC 200 on July 9th after the surgery in May. Now, MMAFighting has received word that Silva was cleared to begin light training, however that doesn’t mean that he will be able to make a return at UFC 200.

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva was slated to fight Uriah Hall this past weekend at UFC 198 in his hometown of Curitiba, Brazil, however an inflamed gallbladder forced Silva off the card, and ultimately onto the operating table. ‘The Spider’ was forced to undergo surgery to have his gallbladder removed, and will be unable to train for approximately 4-6 weeks while he heals. Silva took to Instagram with an update for his fans:

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva was slated to fight Uriah Hall this Saturday at UFC 198. Unfortunately for Silva, the week of the fight, he was experiencing gallbladder pain which was later diagnosed as an inflammation of his gallbladder. Silva was taken to the hospital, and had his gallbladder removed on Wednesday. Fortunately for ‘The Spider’ the recovery time is expected to be 4-6 weeks, giving him just enough time to prepare for a fight at UFC 200.

Tuesday night tragic news surfaced that Anderson Silva had been rushed to the hospital after falling ill. Unfortunately for the former middleweight champion, he was forced to withdraw from his UFC 198 bout with Uriah Hall this weekend due to gallbladder issues. On Wednesday, Silva underwent surgery to have his gallbladder removed, and was comfortably resting at the hospital with hopes of being released on Friday.

Unfortunate news broke Tuesday night that former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva had been forced out of his UFC 198 bout with Uriah Hall this Saturday due to a problem with his gallbladder. This situation quickly went from bad to worse as it was revealed that Silva would need his gallbladder removed as soon as possible. Now, Silva’s physician, Dr. Marcio Tannure, revealed to MMAJunkie that the surgery was a success, and Silva should be leaving the hospital on Friday!
