Amanda Nunes: Miesha Tate is a "way better" fighter than Ronda Rousey

Tom Taylor - January 18, 2017

Back in July of 2016, in the last-minute main event of UFC 200, Brazilian talent Amanda Nunes swiped the women’s bantamweight title from Miesha Tate with a dominant, first-round submission win. Later in the year, in the main event of December’s UFC 207, Nunes defended that title with an even more dominant win, brutalizing returning former champion Ronda Rousey in just 48 seconds. Speaking to FloCombat.com in the weeks after her win, Nunes said that she didn’t think anything could stop her from defeating Rousey at UFC 207 – she was simply too focused.

VIDEO | Chael Sonnen thinks Rousey should train with Mayweather, but just for fun

Tom Taylor - January 18, 2017

Chael Sonnen has become one of the most interesting commentators in MMA. If there’s a major headline cooking up, the three-time UFC title challenger and current Bellator star will have something thought-provoking to say about it. The latest issue that Chael Sonnen sounded off on revolves around the derailed career of the once dominant Ronda Rousey, who was first levelled by a Holly Holm head kick in 2015, and more recently, mauled by reigning bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes in her long-awaited Octagon return.

Dana White gives Ronda Rousey update following UFC 207 loss

At UFC 207, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey was on the wrong end of an extremely one-sided beatdown from UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes. While leading up to the fight, Rousey was the focus of the UFC 207 promo videos, which built up the hype surrounding her already highly anticipated return, it took just 48 seconds for UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes to steal the spotlight as she picked up arguably the biggest, and most dominant, win of her UFC career.

Julianna Pena rips "mentally weak" Ronda Rousey

bjpenndotcom - January 14, 2017

Top ranked UFC women’s bantamweight Julianna Pena has continued to make waves in interviews as she has continued her verbal onslaught of former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey leading up to, and in the wake, of Rousey’s return to the Octagon at UFC 207. Prior to Rousey’s return at UFC 207, Pena called out Ronda Rousey in numerous interviews in hopes of securing a fight with the former champ when she returned to the Octagon given their beef when Pena was competing on The Ultimate Fighter. After Rousey stepped into the cage with Amanda Nunes and was TKOd in just 48 seconds, Pena continued her verbal onslaught of the former champ despite the fact that she is currently booked to fight Valentina Shevchenko at ‘UFC Fight Night: Denver’ later this month.

Ronda Rousey coach Edmond Tarverdyan settles bankruptcy case

Tom Taylor - January 13, 2017

Oft-criticized MMA coach Edmond Tarverdyan has recently been enduring a bit of a rough patch. In late 2015, his star pupil Ronda Rousey was turned off by a Holly Holm head kick in one of the biggest upsets our sport has ever seen. Rousey’s long-awaited comeback fight, which pitted her against Amanda Nunes in the main event of UFC 207, ended up looking more like a public execution, as she was mauled in just 48 seconds. And then, there’s Travis Browne, Tarverdyan’s next most prominent student. He’s currently on a tough, 2-fight losing streak and could conceivably be cut from the UFC if he comes up short in his next bout. Needless to say, things have not been going well for the infamous coach.

Bas Rutten explains what Ronda Rousey must do to make successful return

bjpenndotcom - January 12, 2017

While there was a point that former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey looked nearly invincible inside the Octagon, ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey is now on a 2-fight skid that has seen her drop back to back lopsided losses. After losing her UFC women’s bantamweight championship to Holly Holm at UFC 193 back in November of 2015, Rousey took over a year away from the Octagon before returning at the end of 2016 to fight Amanda Nunes for the women’s bantamweight championship. Unfortunately for Rousey, it took just 48 seconds for Nunes to pick up a devastating TKO win and retain the belt.

Julianna Pena wishes she could have dethroned "spoiled" Ronda Rousey

Tom Taylor - January 11, 2017

In a few short weeks, in the main event of the UFC’s latest Fox broadcast, The Ultimate Fighter 18 winner Julianna Pena will battle fellow bantamweight contender Valentina Shevchenko. The winner of this fight is more than likely to get the next shot at reigning bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes. While Pena is obviously eager for her long-awaited crack at UFC gold, she explained on a recent episode of Brian Stann’s radio show Toe-2-Toe on SiriusXM Rush that she wishes the bantamweight crown was still owned by former champion Ronda Rousey. Apparently, Pena has wanted to fight Rousey since her days on The Ultimate Fighter 18– a season Rousey coached. The top-ranked bantamweight also feels that Rousey has been avoiding her.

Unfortunately for her, this long-awaited comeback did not go as she planned, as she was mauled by reigning women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in just 48 seconds. In the wake of Rousey’s emphatic knockout loss, many members of the MMA community have wished her well and speculated on what the future holds for her. Now, boxing great Floyd Mayweather has done the same, and despite the animosity between him and Rousey in the past, he was actually quite kind.
