Last night, in the main event of the absolutely stacked UFC 214, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and former champion Jon Jones finally stepped into the cage for their long-awaited rematch. Though Cormier started strong – arguably winning the early portions of the fight – he was cracked in the third by a monstrous Jones head-kick. A few followup ground strikes later and the deed was done. Daniel Cormier had lost by third-round knockout, and the light heavyweight title was once again around Jon Jones’ waist.
In the moments after this emphatic stoppage, Jones celebrated with his team and family, while an emotional Cormier struggled to keep his footing, stumbling around the Octagon and shining a spotlight on the ugly, brain-rattling undertone of the sport we all love so much. See this worrisome footage of Cormier, which was captured by one of the UFC’s overhead cameras, below:

As you can see, Cormier was in a bad way after being cracked in the head by Jones’ shin. Luckily, this marks just the first knockout loss of the light heavyweight great’s career. Hopefully that means he will make a full recovery.
What did you think of Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones’ UFC 214 rematch?
