Conor McGregor’s retirement from MMA on Tuesday was quite unexpected. The featherweight champ was looking to bounce back from a 2nd round submission loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 in a highly anticipated rematch at UFC 200.
An elaborate press tour left McGregor unwilling to take a break from training in Iceland, and the UFC ultimately pulled him from UFC 200.
While all signs point to McGregor’s retirement being legitimate, there has been speculation in the minds of fight fans. A video has surfaced of McGregor giving an interview prior to UFC 196, in which the featherweight champ may have foreshadowed his retirement.
