Tuesday afternoon, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather will hit the stage for their highly anticipated first press conference prior to their showdown on August 26th at the T-Mobile Arena.
The fight is being dubbed the ‘Fight of the Century’ and has led to both men predicting that they will finish the fight early, with Mayweather’s coach predicting that Mayweather will end the fight within three rounds, while Conor McGregor recently promised Dana White that he will hand Floyd Mayweather his first professional loss within the first four rounds of the fight.
Dana revealed McGregor’s prediction on FS1’s ‘Speak For Yourself’ podcast this week:
“Last night I landed at LAX and Conor landed at the same time from Ireland. We both landed at the same time and I was waiting for him to get out of the plane. He gets off a flight from Ireland, looks like he was just fitted at Armani, walks off the plan and says, ‘I will knock this man out within four rounds.”’
On the other hand, Mayweather’s coach recently boldly predicted that his fighter would stop McGregor in the first three rounds of the fight, a feat that would mark Mayweather’s first stoppage win since his 2011 KO win over Victor Ortiz six years ago, when he successfully defended his title belt.
He spoke on MMAJunkie Radio after the fight was announced, saying:
“Mayweather will knock him out in three (rounds) or less,” Reyes said. “Everybody thinks, ‘Oh, well, Floyd is just going to dance around.’ Not in this fight. And he doesn’t dance around. I don’t think he dances around anyway. You have to truly understand the craft of boxing to really understand what he does.”
