VIDEO | Ben Askren roasts the welterweight division prior to his debut at UFC 235

Love him or hate him, there is no denying that Ben Askren has been a ton of fun in the lead up to his promotional debut against Robbie Lawler at UFC 235.

After being traded to the UFC from ONE Championship for Demetrious Johnson, “Funky” immediately began to terrorize the promotions 170-pound division.

Askren attacked the likes of Darren Till, Stephen Thompson and Colby Covington on social media, this before eventually signing on to fight former division champion Robbie Lawler at tonight’s UFC 235 event.

While clearly focused on his upcoming showdown with “Ruthless”, Ben Askren did set aside a little time to have fun with the UFC‘s social media team in a segment called “Boom. Roasted”.

“Tyron Woodley, Jada Smith could beat you in a rap battle. Boom. Roasted.”

“Colby Covington your IQ is single digits. Boom. Roasted”

“How can you Boom-Roast GSP? He’s so nice. Yea, I don’t think you can Boom-Roast GSP.”

“Stephen Thompson, the church choir wants you back. Boom. Roasted.”

“Darren Till. My grandmother could take you down. Boom. Roasted.”

“Robbie (Lawler) you’ve been fighting as long as my grandmother has been alive. Boom. Roasted.”

“Colby Covington, nobody likes you. Boom. Roasted.”

Ben Askren will fight for the first time since November of 2017 when he squares off with Robbie Lawler at tonight’s UFC 235 event.

Askren was last seen in action under the ONE Championship banner where he defeated MMA legend Shinya Aoki via first round TKO.
