TMZ Sports first reported the news that Dumas was arrested in Florida following a tense confrontation with police. According to Escambia County jail records, Dumas was booked on a charge of battery at around 6:13 AM.

Sedriques Dumas went live on his FaceBook page as he was having a conversation with a police officer. Dumas was heard asking the officers about their investigation as they were called on the UFC fighter who was allegedly a disturbance. Dumas claimed he was just walking down the street to blow off steam.

The call reportedly came from a girl who claimed “her boyfriend was banging on the door and ringing the doorbell,” which Dumas denied was the case. He also said that he was not dating that girl at all.

“I’m not her boyfriend, so that wasn’t me,” Dumas told the officer, via ESPN. “We’ve been broken up. … We’re not together. I’m just f—ing walking… What, you try to say I hit her or some shit? Please don’t play with me like that.”

Although Dumas denied the allegations, the video then shows him getting arrested, and he is due in court on March 5.

Sedriques Dumas is scheduled to fight at UFC Atlantic City on March 30 against Nursulton Ruziboev. Whether or not this will have any impact on that scheduled fight is uncertain at this time.

This is also not the first time Sedriques Dumas has faced legal trouble. In 2022 before he signed with the UFC, he was accused of hitting a woman in the face during an altercation outside of a bar in Pensacola, Florida. However, the case was closed with no arrests made.

Dumas is currently 9-1 as a pro and is 2-1 in the UFC. He’s coming off a decision victory over Abu Azaitar at UFC 294 in October in Abu Dhabi. Before that, he scored a decision win over Cody Brundage after he suffered a second-round submission loss to Josh Fremd in his UFC debut. The American was signed to the UFC after scoring a 47-second submission win on the Contender Series in August of 2022.
