On Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 237, Rose Namajunas surrendered the UFC strawweight belt to Jessica Andrade, succumbing to a brutal slam and a volley of followup punches. In the wake of this tough loss, Namajunas received a message of support from one of her fiercest rivals, former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

“Keep ya head up You made it to the special league – League of the #UFCCHAMPIONS it stays 4ever,” – Joanna Jedrzejczyk on Twitter.

Rose Namajunas and Joanna Jedrzejczyk have fought twice. Namajunas won both contests, first shocking the former champion with a highlight reel knockout, and later defeating her by decision in a rematch.

Jedrzejczyk has also fought Jessica Andrade in the past. The pair met at the height of her longstanding reign as UFC strawweight champion. The Polish star defeated the Brazilian by unanimous decision, defending the title in the process.

Jedrzejczyk made sure to praise this this former opponent too.

“Great performance CHAMP @jessicammapro🇧🇷 Congrats!💚
👸🏻 #onamission #ufcchampion” – Joanna Jedrzejczyk on Instagram.

Jedrzejczyk’s last fight occurred in the flyweight division, where she battled Valentina Shevchenko for the vacant belt. The Polish star lost this bid by decision.

Despite this recent setback, she remains one of the top contenders in the UFC strawweight division, and could easily find herself fighting for the title again in the near future. She doesn’t currently have a fight booked, but will likely return to the cage quite soon. Stay tuned for updates on her next bout as details emerge.
