Dana White expects NFL Super Bowl viewership numbers for UFC Freedom 250: “This is a unique experience for everybody”

Dana White believes UFC Freedom 250 is trending towards reaching numbers that match the NFL Super Bowl.

The biggest event in MMA history is set to take place on Sunday. It’ll be a historic show, as UFC Freedom 250 will be held on the White House lawn. The event will feature two title fights, including the main event lightweight unification bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje. The co-headliner will feature an interim heavyweight title fight between Ciryl Gane and Alex Pereira.

In an interview with TNT Sports, White was confident in his prediction that UFC Freedom 250 will reach the level of viewership that a Super Bowl typically has (h/t MMAJunkie).

“For UFC fans all over the world, this is a unique experience for everybody,” White said. “We’re expecting Super Bowl-type numbers for this fight.”

White went on to heap praise on UFC’s production team. He went as far as to say that it would be obvious that the top MMA promotion is blackballed from award shows if the crew doesn’t snag multiple wins for its efforts on Sunday.

“I said the Sphere should have won every award there is in production – it did not,” White said. “Which doesn’t surprise me: Very political. If we don’t win every production award for the White House fight, they should stop doing production awards because you’re full of sh*t. You’re full of sh*t.”

UFC Freedom 250 will also showcase a pivotal bantamweight tilt featuring a former champion. Sean O’Malley will collide with Aiemann Zahabi.

Also, outspoken heavyweight Josh Hokit is set to clash with fan favorite Derrick Lewis. Rising star Mauricio Ruffy will look to hand veteran Michael Chandler yet another loss, while Bo Nickal hopes to prove he’s still the future with a win over Kyle Daukaus. Diego Lopes will also be in action against Steve Garcia.
