Cub Swanson makes his return at UFC Ottawa to take on Shane Burgos

By Drake Riggs - March 27, 2019

One of the featherweight division’s all-time most exciting fighters is without a doubt Cub Swanson (25-10). And after some time off, the veteran is back.

Cub Swanson, Brian Stann

First reported by The Toronto Sun and now confirmed by the UFC, the Palm Springs native is set to make his Octagon return at UFC Ottawa on May 4 when he takes on the rising prospect, “Hurricane” Shane Burgos (11-1).

For the WEC and UFC featherweight staple, Swanson, he will be looking to snap the first and only three-fight losing streak that he’s been on in his career after back to back losses to the likes of Brian Ortega, Frankie Edgar, and Renato “Moicano” Carneiro.

Believe it or not, Swanson’s last win actually came in April 2017 when he defeated Artem Lobov by unanimous decision. His last fight came at UFC 227 in August against Moicano.

Like Swanson, this too will be Burgos’ first bout of 2019.

The 28-year old Bronx, New York native has had a very thrilling UFC career to this point. 4-1 to this point, a win over a name like Swanson would catapult the prospect into the top 15 mix.

With the addition of the bout, the card is all but complete as it makes 12 total fights. Meaning that if any more are added, only one or two at the most should be expected. Check out the line-up below
