Joe Rogan admits how Ian Machado Garry has ‘real chance’ against Islam Makhachev at UFC 330

Longtime UFC analyst Joe Rogan believes we could be on the verge of seeing another big upset at Islam Makhachev vs. Ian Machado Garry.

UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev will make his return to the Octagon to fight surging contender Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 next month. After winning the UFC welterweight title last year, Makhachev will look to continue his winning ways against the dangerous Garry in Philadelphia.

Makhachev vs. Garry will take place just weeks after one of the biggest upsets in UFC history on the White House lawn. Justin Gaethje became the undisputed lightweight champ by finishing Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250.

Joe Rogan, who has sat cageside to witness many all-time upsets, believes Garry has a great chance to add to the year’s chaos against Makhachev.

In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan was asked for his thoughts on Makhachev vs. Garry at UFC 330.

“I like the fight. I think Ian has a real chance.  But if he gets taken down, he might just get smooshed and choked,” Rogan said of Garry.

“That [Shavkat Rakhmonov loss] was a couple of years ago, and it’s not like he’s not getting better. He’s super smart, I don’t know why people don’t like him, I love him. He also f—– up Shavkat’s knee, hit him with that oblique kick and that’s why Shavkat had to have surgery…the way he can move in with combinations, it’s very hard to deal with.

“Garry’s no joke, man, he’s f—– dangerous. That style and being that tall, it’s hard to deal with and even spar with tall guys. It creates a lot of space.”

Garry returns after recent wins over former UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad and knockout artist Carlos Prates. He’s bounced back nicely since suffering his first career loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310.
