VIDEO | Max Holloway gets heartwarming message from Jose Aldo ahead of UFC 329

Former BMF and UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway received an encouraging message from a former rival ahead of UFC 329.

Max Holloway is hours away from clashing against former rival Conor McGregor in the UFC 329 main event in Las Vegas. Holloway returns to the Octagon after losing the BMF title to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326 earlier this year.

There’s a lot on the line between Holloway and McGregor at UFC 329. McGregor returns to the cage for the first time in five years, and another loss could be a massive stain on the former two-division champion’s legacy.

Aside from their similar styles and accomplishments, McGregor and Holloway also share similar rivals, including UFC Hall of Famer Jose Aldo. McGregor and Holloway both beat Aldo during their tenures in the UFC featherweight division.

Aldo now has cordial relationships with Holloway and McGregor, years removed from their fights. Ahead of UFC 329, Aldo has a rooting interest in Holloway and reached out to the former BMF champ for a message of support.

Aldo retired from Mixed Martial Arts after a loss to Aiemann Zahabi at UFC 315 last year. He entered the UFC Hall of Fame in 2023.

Holloway defeated Aldo twice for the UFC featherweight title, including in their rematch at UFC 218. Aldo lost in back-to-back third-round knockouts to Holloway.

McGregor knocked out Aldo in just 13 seconds in one of the fastest finishes in UFC history. After McGregor vacated the UFC featherweight title, Aldo was named the undisputed champion after a win over Frankie Edgar at UFC 200.

Holloway has garnered a lot of respect from many of his former foes during his career, and Aldo is no different. The two all-time featherweight greats’ careers will forever be linked.
