Islam Makhachev, the reigning UFC lightweight champion, will not be featured on the UFC 300 card, but his coach has an update. UFC 300 will feature a pivotal lightweight clash between former 155-pound titleholder Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan. UFC CEO Dana White has claimed the bout will determine the number one contender for a shot at Makhachev’s lightweight gold. It’ll be interesting to see who who will emerge victorious to challenge Makhachev, but what is the Makhachev camp thinking in terms of the future?

UFC veteran Matt Brown thinks it’s pretty clear why Conor McGregor has not stepped back inside the Octagon. When the Irish megastar was last seen competing in a pro MMA fight, he suffered a broken leg during his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier. That was back in July 2021. Now, we’re one month away from spring 2024 and McGregor still hasn’t had another fight booked.

In the main event, Alexander Volkanovski was looking to defend his belt against undefeated challenger Ilia Topuria. The co-main event of UFC 298 was a pivotal middleweight bout between Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa.

The three opponents that UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards was offered to face at UFC 300 have been revealed and none were Belal Muhammad. Muhammad is currently the second-ranked welterweight and most assumed would be next in line for the next title shot. However, it was a bit of a surprise when Dana White revealed after UFC 298 that Edwards was offered three different opponents for UFC 300 but none came to fruition.

Alex Pereira isn’t ruling out the possibility of him headlining UFC 301 in Brazil. UFC CEO Dana White announced on Saturday that Pereira would headline UFC 300 on April 13 against Jamahal Hill. Pereira is looking to defend his light heavyweight title for the first time, but originally, the plan was for him to headline UFC 301 on May 4 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

UFC CEO Dana White has explained why Henry Cejudo wasn’t given the chance to speak on the microphone at UFC 298. At UFC 298, Henry Cejudo fell short in his attempt to defeat Merab Dvalishvili. After the bout, Cejudo took off his gloves immediately – which can often be a sign that a fighter is going to retire. The expectation was that he’d receive the microphone during the post-fight interviews but for whatever reason, that didn’t happen.
