In this video we see the UFC’s Senior VP of Business and Legal Affairs and Assistant general Counsel, Michael Mersh, discuss with the Diaz camp a last-minute changing of the weigh-in rules, which he confirms is only applicable for the GSP vs. Diaz fight and no other fighters on the card. While some of the clip is hard to hear, it is clear that this man conveys to Diaz that the commission has allotted a 0.9lb weigh-in allowance for both fighters. Something that is not common for a title fight. Additionally, he says that the two fighters have an additional hour to make their contracted weight of 170 pounds.

An injury has forced Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (25-10 MMA, 6-4 UFC) to pull out of his scheduled bout with Matt Brown (16-11 MMA, 6-5 UFC) at UFC on FOX 7 next month. Stepping in to fill the void will be Canadian welterweight Jordan “Young Gun” Mein (27-8 MMA, 1-0 UFC), who makes a quick return to action, fresh off his UFC debut win over Dan Miller at UFC 158.

Invicta FC featherweight, Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos has spoken out on the issue of transgender ‘female’ MMA fighter Fallon Fox. Fox, who used to be a genetic male, is now a transgender female and is campaigning (with plenty rightful resistance) to fight females. Joe Rogan was vocal about her not fighting and brought up the fact that Fox has the bone structure and testosterone of a male.

UFC superstar BJ Penn has a new opponent lined up. Not in MMA, but in the Lavaman Waikoloa Hawaii Challenge on March 24th. It is a charity triathlon, and his competition; Professional Surfer Sunny Garcia. The two challengers are legends in their respected sports, and will not take each other lightly. The proceeds of the event will all given to charity, but make no mistake about it these two are competitive. They both will be gunning for victory, especially since the competition is being held in their home state of Hawaii; Garcia being born in Maili, which is on the Westside of Oahu and Penn who was born in Kailua.

I got a call one day from Dana, he said ‘Chael, I’m putting you to work.’ ‘You see, I overpaid for this light heavy, who I now realize is a jerk.’ ‘He’s been winning fights, but not with brains or with brawn. ‘And his matches and his one-armed cartwheels are making the whole crowd yawn. ‘I mean, nobody’s coming to see him in living rooms or in bars. ‘Why don’t you send this guy to Cirque de Soleil, or Dancing with the Stars?’ He handed me his wallet, his ATM card and pin number too. He said, ‘Chael, whatever’s in the account, take it, it’s all for you.’ I thought for a moment and I said, ‘I’ll tell you what, Uncle D. ‘For you and the fans, this one’s on me.’ So I went and did some homework, I got some tapes of his fights. I suggest you all give them a try, if you’re having trouble sleeping at night. They tell me he’s good, but I know that can’t be true, I saw him get armbarred by Vitor, and he’s 52! He’s so boring he made Machida fall asleep. The snoozefest he had against Rashad, or beating up on Bonnar, who’s older than God? Look, here’s the truth, believe me it is. Don’t even mention Ryan Bader, he lost to Tito Ortizz! Jon, I’m coming to New Jersey, because I’ve got a job to do. I’m a fully-loaded cannon, boy, and I’m pointed right at you. A little advice, go get in your car and hit another tree. Do whatever you gotta do to stay away Jon, you don’t want to fight me.
