Back at UFC 192 Tyron Woodley and former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks were slated to square off to decide who would get a crack at Robbie Lawler’s welterweight championship. Hendricks had a weight-cut mishap and was rushed to the hospital. Woodley was ultimately awarded the title shot by UFC President Dana White. Lawler went on to fight, and defeat, Carlos Condit via controversial decision. Condit called for an immediate rematch, and there was no mention of Woodley’s promise of a title shot.

At ‘UFC Fight Night: Vegas’ last week where Stephen Thompson scored an incredible 1st round KO over Johny Hendricks, Mickey Gall defeated Mike Jackson on the UFC Fight Pass prelims. With his win over Jackson, Gall was named as the man to fight CM Punk at UFC 200. Punk seemed to be thrilled, even picking up journalist Ariel Helwani. Unfortunately, several days after the fight it was revealed that Punk had to undergo back surgery and would likely be unable to fight at UFC 200. Despite that, when Punk’s back is healed in 4-6 weeks he will fight Mickey Gall.

On February 27th Michael Bisping and Anderson Silva will square off in a highly anticipated match of veterans. Both men have been at the top of the UFC’s middleweight division for quite some time, however have yet to fight one another. While Silva reigned as the king of the middleweight division for nearly 10 years, Bisping was always just shy of a title shot. On February 27th he will finally get the chance to fight Silva and get his name in the title mix once again.

In what is likely the strangest combat sports card in the history of, well…combat sports, UR Fight is reportedly putting on a fight card that is leaving us scratching our heads. The event, which is scheduled for March 20th according to MMAWeekly will feature a grappling match between Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping, a MMA fight between Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn, a pro-wrestling match between Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio, and a boxing match between Roy Jones Jr. and a fan who has yet to be selected.

Last month Donald Cerrone had his highly anticipated rematch with Rafael dos Anjos for the UFC lightweight championship. Unfortunately for Cowboy, Rafael dos Anjos started quick and landed a crushing liver kick in a matter of moments. Cowboy was unable to recover and ultimately lost via 1st round TKO.

Donald Cerrone is currently gearing up for his ‘UFC Fight Night: Pittsburgh’ main event bout against Alex ‘Cowboy’ Oliveira, however that hasn’t stopped Cerrone from plotting about the rest of 2016. ‘Cowboy’ is coming off a 1st round TKO loss to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC on FOX 17 earlier this year, and is looking to get a fight with UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor after ‘Notorious’ has his scrap with dos Anjos at UFC 196 on March 5th.

News surfaced late Friday evening that former UFC champion Tito Ortiz had been cited for misdemeanor battery outside of a Las Vegas nightclub. The situation in question was with a woman over a cell phone which lead to Ortiz allegedly getting physical in an attempt to take the phone. When police arrived at The Cromwell hotel, Ortiz was not placed under arrest and was issued a citation.

Earlier this month Mickey Gall defeated Mike Jackson in the 1st round of their ‘UFC Fight Night: Vegas’ scrap. The win earned Gall a crack at CM Punk at UFC 200 in July. Just several days after Gall’s win it was revealed that Punk had to undergo surgery for a herniated disc. As a result Punk would be sidelined 4-6 weeks however the fight with Gall is still on, however there’s no guess as to when.

Sage Northcutt is coming off the first loss of his professional career at the hands of Bryan Barberena earlier this month. Since his loss to Barberena, Northcutt revealed that he would be training full-time at Tristar gym in Montreal. He also assured his fans that he would be back better than ever for his next fight.

On the other hand, Roy Nelson is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jared Rosholt earlier this month. The win snapped Nelson’s 3-fight skid that had seen him lose to Mark Hunt, Alistair Overeem, and Josh Barnett.

Michael Bisping is not letting anyone forget that Anderson Silva tested positive for banned substances. The former UFC middleweight champion is returning to his first fight since being suspended by the NAC after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). Although Silva’s NAC hearing seemed less than professional at times, they ultimately served Silva a one-year suspension. Silva, to this day, proclaims his innocence and claims that the positive results for the PEDs were a result of taking a male sexual enhancement product.
