Michael Bisping vs. Chael Sonnen, Ken Shamrock vs. Dan Severn, Roy Jones Jr. vs. Fan
In what is likely the strangest combat sports card in the history of, well…combat sports, UR Fight is reportedly putting on a fight card that is leaving us scratching our heads.
The event, which is scheduled for March 20th according to MMAWeekly will feature a grappling match between Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping, a MMA fight between Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn, a pro-wrestling match between Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio, and a boxing match between Roy Jones Jr. and a fan who has yet to be selected.
Sonnen and Bisping fought once before at UFC on FOX in Chicago where Sonnen picked up the unanimous decision win. Sonnen is currently retired from MMA competition while Bisping is fighting Anderson Silva on February 27th. Given that the bout is a grappling match it won’t violate either fighter’s UFC contract.
Ken Shamrock is gearing up for his Bellator 149 trilogy fight with Royce Gracie, while Dan Severn hasn’t fought since April of 2012.
The promotion is marketing the card with the phrase “watch the 4 pillars of combat sports collide”. One thing is for sure…this will be interesting.
