It looks like UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor’s choice to give Nate Diaz their fight at welterweight may have been a planned tactic for a fight with UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler. “I mean, why not? It’s no secret that Conor McGregor had a brutal weight cut when he was dropping down to fight at featherweight. Ahead of McGregor’s fight with Nate Diaz on Saturday at UFC 196, which will go down at welterweight, a member of The UnderGround compared the size of McGregor prior to UFC 194 with the size of McGregor before UFC 196 on Saturday.

After it was announced that Nate Diaz would be stepping in for Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196, the UFC held a ‘UFC 196: McGregor vs. Diaz’ press conference the very next day. McGregor and Diaz put on a verbal show for the fans as they talked trash for nearly 30 minutes straight! Over the course of the press conference, McGregor called Diaz a “cholo” and mocked him for teaching Jiu-Jitsu seminars to kids.

Two days ago Mikey Burnett was shot three times in the abdomen and his son Freddie was shot once in the leg while going to their car in a crowded parking lot. The shooting happened in Tulsa, OK east side.  Both Mikey and his son are expected to make a full recovery. The two arrested  are teens Harold Thompson, 16, and Kywaun Washington, 17. Both have admitted to police that tried to rob Burnett in the parking lot of the Rib Crib which is by the gym where Freddie and Mikey were working out.

Leading up to UFC 196, Jon Anik stated that if Nate Diaz is able to upset Conor McGregor in the main event, he will get a “209” tattoo in honor of Stockton native Nate Diaz. Anik may be surprised however to know that Diaz wasn’t too fond of the comment, and took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction.

Miesha Tate wants to play spoiler this Saturday night at UFC 196 but still wants to see a Holm Rousey rematch. Holm’s kick heard around the world defeat of Rousey at UFC 193 in the 2nd round made Tate the top contender and Tate thinks it might have just been an off night for Rousey.

Now that Rafael dos Anjos is out of their UFC 196 bout, and Nate Diaz has stepped in for a welterweight scrap with McGregor, many are wondering if McGregor will get a welterweight title shot at UFC 200 if he defeats Diaz.
