The initial headlining bout for UFC 200 is no longer an option, according to the UFC. Conor McGregor will not be fighting Nate Diaz in their non-title welterweight rematch as originally planned. Instead, Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones will fight in the main event of UFC 200 for the undisputed UFC light heavyweight title.

This past weekend, Jon Jones earned the UFC’s interim light heavyweight title by defeating Ovince Saint Preux via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 197. Earlier today, UFC president Dana White announced that July’s blockbuster UFC 200 event would be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight rematch between current champ Daniel Cormier and the aforementioned interim title holder Jon Jones.

Even with Conor McGregor nowhere in sight for the UFC 200 press conferences taking place, a lot of questions are still coming up about “The Notorious.” Many were shocked last week when the UFC announced that they had to pull McGregor off the significant UFC 200 card in July after “The Notorious” refused to take part in the media obligations to promote UFC 200.

Unfortunately for fight fans, McGregor refused to attend certain media obligations to promote the UFC 200 event and was thus pulled off the card by UFC officials.

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has just inked another deal in the film industry. Rousey has landed a contract for three movies with the Lifetime Network. Rousey joins other stars including Janet Jackson and Serena Williams who will be a part of Lifetime’s 2016-2017 development schedule, according to Deadspin.

Jon Jones has gotten a bit of flack for his performance against Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197. “OSP” stepped in on three weeks notice when Jones’ original opponent Daniel Cormier was forced out of their bout due to an injury. Jones’ wrestling coach Izzy Martinez attributed part of the lackluster performance due to the new opponent being given to them on short notice.

Recently news broke that Fedor Emelianenko would be making his return to MMA once again on June 17th under the Fight Nights Global banner in Russia to fight Fabio Maldonado. Surprisingly, the promotion has now offered Conor McGregor $2 million to fight at the event as well. This comes after McGregor was pulled from UFC 200 for refusing to fulfill his media obligations for the event.

Jones chalked his hesitance up to a late change of opponents, throwing off his gameplan.
