With 13 submissions on his record, “The Natural Born Killer” has never trained in the gi, until now. Back at UFC 188, former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez lost a controversial split decision to Eddie Alvarez. In addition to the decision being controversial, Melendez tested positive for testosterone metabolites. Now, nearly a year later, Melendez’ suspension is up, and he’s gearing up for his UFC on FOX 20 scrap against Edson Barboza on July 23rd in Chicago.

Dhafir Harris, better known as Dada 5000 has gone through a lot since he entered the cage at Bellator 149 on February 19. Dada 5000 had a lackluster fight with Kimbo Slice and was sent to the hospital in critical condition immediately after the fight. Dada 5000 says that he was brought back to life after he was pronounced dead in the hospital, suffering from cardiac arrest, dehydration, fatigue and renal failure.

While the event featured several high-profile bouts including Overeem vs. Arlovski, and Bigfoot Silva vs. Stefan Struve, the event didn’t do so hot in the viewership department. @FrontRowBrian FN 87 avg'd 656k viewers. This Saturday, UFC 198 goes down in Curitiba Brazil. The event will play host to a number of high profile fights involving many Brazilian MMA legends, including Anderson Silva, Lil Nog, Shogun Rua, and Fabricio Werdum to name just a few. In the co-main event of ‘UFC Fight Night: Rotterdam’, Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva was TKOd in just 16 seconds by Stefan Struve. The loss to Struve made it 2 straight for Bigfoot, who is just 1-4 in his last 5 fights. Following the loss, Bigfoot took to social media to blast his critics in Portuguese.

It wasn’t too long ago that UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor found himself threatened on social media by a man wielding an AK-47. The threat was serious enough that the FBI began investigating into the incident. During a recent appearance at an event alongside his girlfriend, Dee Devlin, McGregor was accompanied by two bodyguards according to ‘Sweeny and Moran’ who received an eyewitness account of the situation:

$117,500 was the total payout by Reebok for the exclusive uniform deal with the UFC for the UFC Fight Night 87 event that took place in Rotterdam over the weekend.
