The UFC’s outfitting deal with Reebok now makes it so that fighters can only wear Reebok gear, or clothing without a noticeable logo, during media appearances, and fight-week. When fighters don’t follow the protocol, they are either fined, or they have to remove the article of clothing. When UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold showed up to the UFC 199 press conference yesterday wearing Adidas shoes, adjustments had to be made.

Saturday night in the co-main event of UFC 199, Dominick Cruz & Urijah Faber will have their highly anticipated trilogy fight for the bantamweight championship nearly a decade after the pair’s initial meeting in 2007. Ahead of the fight, the pair have traded verbal jabs back and forth, however ahead of weigh-ins on Friday, Faber took the offensive as he posted a photoshopped picture of he and Cruz to Instagram.

A rematch with Nate Diaz is the fight Conor McGregor wants the most at this point. “The Notorious” wants their second meeting under the same rules and conditions as their initial bout at UFC 196, which took place back in March where Diaz was able to submit McGregor in the second round. McGregor wants the fight, however, Diaz is holding his position to make sure he gets his fair share of the prize money that the fight will bring in for the UFC and for McGregor.

News broke earlier this week that UFC women’s bantamweight Valentina Shevchenko was at a chicken shop in Peru when an armed robbery took place. Without missing a beat, Shevchenko’s coach left into action, pulling out a firearm and shooting one of the robbers. Unfortunately, he was also his by return fire from the men, and was rushed to the hospital.

Max Holloway is blazing hot on an eight-fight win streak in the UFC. The young Hawaiian is looking to up his streak to nine at UFC 199 as he is set to face Ricardo Lamas this weekend. Holloway has the third-longest winning streak among active fighters, behind Jon Jones’ 13-fight win streak and Demetrious Johnson’s 10-fight win streak, according to stats from MMA Junkie. Holloway and his eight-fight winning streak mark the first time a UFC fighter has won eight bouts in a row and has not fought for a UFC title.

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has not fought in the Octagon since losing the belt to Holly Holm back in November 2015. Prior to her fight against Holm at UFC 193, Rousey told Rolling Stone she would be taking time off and wanted to “disappear for a while” as she had movie projects to take care of. “Rowdy” even made it known that she wanted to stay outside of the Octagon until UFC 200, but UFC President Dana White didn’t sound positive that Rousey would even be back to fight in 2016 in an interview on SportsCenter on Thursday.

Several weeks ago Chris Weidman was forced out of his UFC 199 rematch with Luke Rockhold due to a neck injury. After it was revealed that Jacare Souza had a torn meniscus, and would be unable to fight, the UFC chose Michael Bisping to step in on short notice and fight Rockhold. Despite being injured, Weidman talked trash about Bisping, calling him the easiest opponent in title fight history. That didn’t sit too well with Bisping, who fired back in an interview with MMAFighting:

Several weeks ago, Anderson Silva was slated to fight Uriah Hall on the main card of UFC 198 in Curitiba, Brazil. Unfortunately for ‘The Spider’, he was forced off the card after it was determined that he would need his gallbladder removed. Despite that, Silva set his sights on a return at UFC 200 on July 9th after the surgery in May. Now, MMAFighting has received word that Silva was cleared to begin light training, however that doesn’t mean that he will be able to make a return at UFC 200.
