"The Korean Superboy" Doo Ho Choi has Become a Super Man

Tom Taylor - February 14, 2017

Last December, on the main card of UFC 206, “The Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi and Cub Swanson engaged in one of the most thrilling scraps of all time. For three, frenzied rounds, prospect and veteran pelted each other with heavy artillery, hammering each other’s jaws and leaving ours on the floor. Given how exciting he looked in his last fight, fans have been hungry for the return of The Korean Superboy ever since. Given this, it’s easy to understand why there was such excitement when reports recently began to swirl that he’d be fighting former bantamweight champion Renan Barao in the main event of the UFC’s April 15 trip to Kansas City, Missouri.

Tom Taylor - February 14, 2017

Now, we also know the card’s co-main event. London’s co-main event spot will be filled by a welterweight scrap between fan favorite striker Alan Jouban, and Icelandic grappling specialist Gunnar Nelson. This booking was initially reported by @TalkMMA on Twitter, and confirmed by a Tuesday press release from the UFC.

Luke Rockhold trashes "coward" Michael Bisping, hopes for summer return against "Jacare"

Tom Taylor - February 14, 2017

In June of 2016, an overconfident Luke Rockhold was knocked out by Michael Bisping in one of the year’s biggest upsets. This massive upset loss marked the end of what looked like it could have been a pretty dominant reign as UFC middleweight champ. Later that year, Rockhold was given the opportunity to bounce back from this ugly loss when he was scheduled for a rematch with top middleweight contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, who he bested back in 2011. Regrettably, Rockhold sustained a leg injury in training, and was forced out of this fight. He has not been seen in action since.

UFC discloses their hefty economic impact in New York from UFC 205

Russell Ess - February 13, 2017

The UFC hosts events all over the world throughout the year that fighters, staff, and fans travel to be in attendance for. The impact that the UFC brings with their events stimulates the local economy where the events are held, especially ones that have massive draws on the card, such as UFC 205 that featured the lightweight title fight between Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez.

Cyborg: "Everyone knows who the champ is at 145"

Tom Taylor - February 13, 2017

Last weekend, in the main event of UFC 208, Germaine de Randamie scored a controversial decision win over former bantamweight champ Holly Holm to become the UFC’s first ever women’s featherweight champion. De Randamie’s history-making win, however, had a massive shadow cast over it by one woman: Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino. Cyborg, who has not lost since her pro debut more than a decade ago, is far and away the best female featherweight on earth. Regrettably, several brutal cuts to 140 pounds and a December brush with the United States Anti-Doping Agency meant that she wasn’t able to participate in the UFC’s inaugural women’s featherweight title fight. Despite her absence from this historic bout, however, she is still widely regarded as the uncrowned featherweight queen.

UFC Halifax: Lewis vs. Browne official fight card

Tom Taylor - February 13, 2017

This Sunday – yes, that’s Sunday, not Saturday – the UFC will return to beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia with UFC Fight Night 105. Here’s everything you need to know about the UFC Halifax fight card! Originally, this card was expected to be headlined by an interesting heavyweight rematch between former champion Junior Dos Santos and towering Dutchman Stefan Struve. When Struve was forced out of the fight with an injury however, a heavyweight bout pairing Derrick Lewis with Travis Browne was transplanted from UFC 208 and made Halifax’s new main event. Dos Santos was later pencilled in for a title fight with heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic – so it all worked out for him.

Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza doesn't plan to wait for Bisping, targets rematch with Romero

Tom Taylor - February 13, 2017

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza has long stood out as one of the top contenders in the middleweight division, and as a man very much deserving of a title shot. Unfortunately for him, that shot has yet to materialize. While it’s possible that the Brazilian grappling whiz might receive his long-awaited shot if he simply hung tight and waited for his chance, this is simply not his style. It is for this reason that he accepted a fight with the division’s 14th ranked fighter Tim Boetsch, who he tapped with a first-round kimura on the main card of last weekend’s UFC 208. It’s for that same reason that he’s willing to accept another fight in the meantime, if a title fight with Michael Bisping is not what’s offered to him next.

Cody Garbrandt gets tattoo to commemorate bantamweight title win

Tom Taylor - February 13, 2017

You don’t have to look at Cody Garbrandt for very long to deduce that he’s a tattoo lover. The undefeated bantamweight, who swiped the divisional crown from Dominick Cruz in December, has the majority of his torso and even his neck inked up. He’s still getting new work done, too. On Sunday night, the new champ took to Instagram to share footage of his newest piece, which appears to be on his left calf. This piece, shows a UFC belt superimposed on a hand grenade, accompanied by the words “A Promise Kept.” See it below!

Artem Lobov on Swanson booking: This is my kind of fight

Tom Taylor - February 13, 2017

Over the weekend, we learned that Conor McGregor training partner Artem Lobov had been granted the fight he’s been campaigning for: a scrap with the UFC’s fourth-raked featherweight, Cub Swanson. The two will headline the UFC’s upcoming trip to Nashville, Tennessee on April 22. Given that Swanson is soundly inside the featherweight top-5, and Lobov is not even ranked, many people consider this booking a bit of a head-scratcher. As Lobov explained in a recent interview with Peter Carroll of Newstalk, however, it makes perfect sense.

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm suffered her third-straight setback at last night’s UFC 208 event in Brooklyn, New York. “The Preachers Daughter” went toe-to-toe with Germaine de Randamie for the UFC’s inaugural women’s featherweight championship in last night’s main event but after 25 minutes was on the wrong end of a 48-47 decision from the judges.

Last night, the UFC touched down in Brooklyn, New York with UFC 208. In the main event of the evening, the organization crowned it’s first-ever women’s featherweight champion. It did so by pitting Dutch kickboxing specialist Germaine de Randamie against former women’s bantamweight queen Holly Holm. Though De Randamie landed two questionably shots after the bell, and Holm seemed to run away with the fight in the second half, she was ultimately awarded a contentious unanimous decision win by the judges, and became the UFC’s first ever female featherweight champion as a result.
