Covington recently discussed a potential catchweight bout with ‘The Eagle’, where he insinuated that Khabib would be the easiest fight of his career.

Last week we got our headliner announcements in regards to UFC 239 as two titles will be defended when featherweight and bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes defends her latter crown against Holly Holm. And in the event’s featured attraction, light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones faces Brazil’s ‘Marreta,’ Thiago Santos. However, on the day of that announcement, it looked like things were actually pointing in the direction of a big heavyweight clash between Jones and former champion, Stipe Miocic. Jones’ longtime coach, Mike Winkeljohn says otherwise though.

On a recent episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Oliver had a lengthy segment ahead of this Sunday’s WrestleMania 35 event that has gotten quite the buzz in the professional wrestling world. The host would go on to discuss and point out all the wrongs in said sport… But more specifically with the WWE. One of Oliver’s key points of mention was how there is a grey area for athletes in regards to whether or not they’re employees or independent contractors. Which happens to be a similar case within the UFC.

Something that isn’t too surprising coming from a woman who has two wins each over perennial top strawweight contender, Claudia Gadelha, and UFC bantamweight and featherweight champion, Amanda Nunes in BJJ competition.

After this fight with Volkanovski, the former UFC featherweight champion will have one fight left on his current contract. He plans on fulfilling this final obligation, then conquering the sport of boxing from the ground up.

When Conor McGregor made his return to the Octagon at UFC 229 to take on Khabib Nurmagomedov it was the biggest pay-per-view in the UFC’s history. Part of the reason the card was so successful was because of McGregor and Nurmagomedov’s heated rivalry. First, it was the Nurmagomedov confronting McGregor’s friend and teammate in Artem Lobov. Then, it was McGregor throwing the dolly at the bus. And, finally, after the fight there was a post-fight melee to top it all off.

The trash talk between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov has reached new heights over the last few days, as McGregor has once again targeted his rival’s religion, and Nurmagomedov returned fire by calling the Irishman a “rapist.” Speaking to TMZ, MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz explained how Khabib Nurmagomedov reacted to this latest verbal assault from Conor McGregor. Apparently, the lightweight champ just smiled — which is a dangerous sign.

Over the last few days, the animosity between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov has reached a boiling point, as the two lightweight stars have bombarded each other trash talk widely deemed to be a step too far. Conor McGregor, for example, made several comments thought to be grossly insensitive toward the muslim faith, while Khabib Nurmagomedov flat-out called McGregor a rapist amid the sexual assault accusations the Irishman is currently facing.

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) returns this Saturday with Artem Lobov and Jason Knight making their promotional debuts in the main event of BKFC 5. Although the two are set to headline the card, the pre-fight discourse has been dominated by Lobov and Paulie Malignaggi’s potential fight. With all the buzz surrounding a potential Lobov vs. Malignaggi fight, Knight thinks Lobov is looking past him and that this will be a mistake for Lobov.

Last night, we were hit with the unfortunate news that former UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero had been forced out of the main event of UFC Fort Lauderdale with an illness. This left his opponent, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, without an opponent. According a report from Brazilian MMA news outlet Combate, the UFC has already found a new opponent for the man they call Jacare in streaking middleweight knockout artist Paulo Costa. This bout has not yet been officially confirmed by the UFC.

Chael Sonnen is set to return to the cage the summer, and his opponent will be former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida. The bout will go down on June 14 inside New York City’s world famous Madison Square Garden. This news was first reported by ESPN, and subsequently confirmed by MMA Junkie.

The Irish superstar, who had made some controversial posts yesterday evening which were later deleted, issued a form of apology in today’s tweet.
