Ever since becoming world champion, Ilia Topuria has been pretty busy. From interviews to celebrations and beyond, he’s enjoying life as the king. Alas, as you can imagine, there’s also been a lot of interest from other fighters who want to battle him. This includes Movsar Evloev, another undefeated fighter currently residing in the top 15 at 145 pounds.

Regardless of which way you look at it, Topuria vs Evloev is an interesting showdown. Of course, some would argue that Movsar needs another big win in order to earn the status of number one contender.

In a recent tweet, he opted to question Topuria’s decision to call out big names like Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.

Evloev questions Topuria

“Conor, Islam, Khabib, Mayweather, Muhammad Ali, Messi… Who else do you want to fight rather than the only undefeated fighter in your division? @Topuriailia”

While Topuria is certainly focusing a lot of attention on big names, we can understand why. There’s a lot of money to be made in those potential fights, but at the same time, Ilia isn’t the kind of fighter who is going to run away from a challenge. Evloev is undefeated and he’s an incredibly dangerous opponent, but perhaps he needs one more bout to really make his claim.

One thing is for sure – things haven’t been this interesting at featherweight in a long time, and that’s a fact.

Do you believe Mosvar Evloev should get the next crack at the UFC featherweight champion? If not, who should he take on in order to try and earn his opportunity? Let us know your thoughts on this, BJPENN Nation!
