England’s Michael “The Count” Bisping has had an incredible 2016. It’s been so incredible, in fact, that he might just be a shoo-in for 2016’s Fighter of the Year. The Count’s 2016 began with a tooth and nail decision defeat of middleweight legend Anderson Silva. From there, the English veteran capitalized on a last-minute opportunity to replace an injured Chris Weidman against middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, stealing the middleweight crown with a first-round KO. Finally and most recently, in the main event of UFC 204, Bisping avenged the ugliest loss of his career by taking a decision defeat from retiring legend Dan Henderson in front of thousands of English fans. Safe to say that very few fighters have accomplished what Bisping has in the cage this year.
Tim Kennedy Says He Might Quit Fighting if UFC 205 Win Doesn't Put Him in the Title Picture
Tom Taylor - October 31, 2016
On November 12, on the undercard of UFC 205, talented UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy will return from a lengthy hiatus to take on Rashad Evans. While the Strikeforce veteran is optimistic that a win over Evans should push him in the direction of a fight with current middleweight champ Michael Bisping, who he defeated back in 2014, he’s also aware that nothing is certain in today’s crowded middleweight division. “The [middleweight] division’s a mess, man. It’s a disaster,” Kennedy said on a recent episode of Submission Radio. “It’s anybody’s chance to get that next title fight and everybody wants it because, especially for me, Michael Bisping is the easiest fight in the division.”
Chris Weidman on Michael Bisping: He’d Be an Underdog To All The Top 10 Guys
Tom Taylor - October 30, 2016
On November 12, on the main card of UFC 205, former middleweight champion Chris Weidman will fight for the first time since he surrendered the title to Luke Rockhold last December. He’ll be returning to action against the dangerous Yoel Romero, and if he’s impressive in this return, he might just earn himself another crack at the middleweight throne. Unless the middleweight division experiences a tectonic shift in the next few months, that would mean a fight with England’s Michael Bisping, who won the title with a first round knockout of Rockhold in June. Despite Bisping’s status as the champion, and the fact that he recently defeated MMA legend Dan Henderson to retain that title, Weidman is extremely confident in his chances against the Brit. In fact, he wouldn’t favor the current champion over any of the UFC’s top-10 middleweights.

While it appeared as though the bout would be booked, with St-Pierre even going as far as to tell his fans that they would have news regarding his comeback in a couple of weeks. UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has had an incredibly busy year that has seen him defeat Anderson Silva in London, knock out Luke Rockhold on just 2 weeks notice to win the UFC championship, and then defend the belt against Dan Henderson in Manchester, England. Despite that, Bisping isn’t ready to call it a year just yet. After ‘The Count’ was rumored to be fighting former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre at UFC 206 in Toronto in November, Bisping set his sights on a fight at the event despite the fact that Georges St-Pierre announced this week that negotiations with the UFC haven’t been going well, and he will be unable to fight Bisping at UFC 206.

Despite that, St-Pierre remained in Las Vegas, with many speculating that St-Pierre remained in Vegas to negotiate with the UFC brass.

Gegard Mousasi Says He Would "Punish" Michael Bisping if They Fought
Tom Taylor - October 25, 2016
Late last week, it was announced that an injury had forced Gunnar Nelson out his bout with Dong Hyun Kim, the planned headliner for the UFC’s return to Belfast, Northern Ireland. This unfortunately left the UFC scrambling for a viable main event on just a few weeks’ notice. Though it can’t have been easy, the organization was able to produce a compelling replacement main event. This new headliner will see top-5 middleweight Gegard Mousasi attempt to avenge arguably the toughest loss of his career against the hot-and-cold Uriah Hall.

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is certainly one of the most polarizing figures in MMA. Bisping, who has been on a tear of the UFC’s middleweight division in 2016, is never one to shy away from speaking his mind. Earlier this month, Bisping stepped into the Octagon in the main event of UFC 204 in Manchester, England, for a highly anticipated rematch with MMA legend Dan Henderson, who was stepping into the Octagon to fight for the final time. The fight was an extremely exciting one, with Henderson coming out of the gate strong, dropping Bisping in both the first and seconds rounds. Throughout the remainder of the fight, the champ continued to land an incredible volume of strikes, ultimately winning the fight via unanimous decision. The scoring for the fight was rather controversial, with many fighters scoring the bout in Henderson’s favor given that he dropped Bisping in both the first and second rounds. Following the fight, both men were praised for what many considered to be one of the best title fights of the year.
Michael Bisping fires back at Luke Rockhold
Scott Hernandez - October 22, 2016
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold have a very long, and very public, rivalry dating back many years. Prior to the pair’s first meeting in the Octagon, Bisping infamously recalled a sparring session between the pair, taking a shot at the former Strikeforce middleweight champ by stating that after their sparring session, he should be the Strikeforce middleweight champion. Bisping’s comments didn’t sit too well with Rockhold, who was quick to welcome a fight with Bisping. In 2014 the pair had their first meeting inside the Octagon, where Rockhold defeating Bisping via 2nd round submission in a particularly impressive showing.

Michael Bisping to GSP: "Sign the Papers Buddy"
Tom Taylor - October 21, 2016
Yesterday, we reported that UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping was being considered as an addition to UFC 206, which is, at the moment, undeniably short on big names. Though Bisping denied these reports, there still seems to be significant reason to believe he could wind up on the card – perhaps against welterweight legend Georges St-Pierre. I spoke to one of Michael Bisping's coaches who told me thatthe UFC is targeting the champ to return at #UFC206 in Toronto, Canada.
Dan Henderson "Pissed" About Bisping Loss, Could be "Talked Into a Rubber Match."
Tom Taylor - October 21, 2016
Earlier this month, in the main event of UFC 204, England’s Michael Bisping sought to defend the UFC middleweight title against Dan Henderson. The bout also marked the Brit’s opportunity to avenge the ugliest loss of his career: a blistering KO doled out by Henderson in the year 2009. In the end, Bisping would leave Manchester with both the belt and his vengeance, earning a unanimous decision over his 46-year-old foe after five fun rounds of action. The fight was so competitive, however, that many fans didn’t believe Bisping deserved either, and that instead, the decision should have gone to Henderson.
