Top bantamweight offers to fill for Kayla Harrison against Amanda Nunes at UFC 324

A top contender wants to fill in for the injured UFC bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison against the returning legend Amanda Nunes.
UFC 324 took a big hit on Wednesday as it was reported that Kayla Harrison, the UFC women’s bantamweight titleholder, was forced to withdraw from her scheduled showdown with Amanda Nunes due to a neck injury. Harrison will undergo surgery and is expected to be out for around six months before being cleared for a return to the cage.
Nunes was scheduled to make her highly anticipated return to MMA after retiring from the UFC at UFC 289, her final bantamweight title defense against Irene Aldana. After Harrison won the women’s bantamweight title at UFC 316 last year, Nunes faced off with the new champion and confirmed her intentions to return to the Octagon.
But Nunes’s return plans are now up in the air following Harrison’s recent injury. It’s uncertain if Nunes will wait around for Harrison’s return or if the UFC will book an interim title fight amid Harrison’s absence.
If Nunes wants to still fight at UFC 324, a surging contender is ready to welcome the UFC legend back to the Octagon.

In a recent social media post, surging bantamweight Norma Dumont called out Nunes for a short-notice booking at UFC 324.

“I’m in, Let’s go!” Dumont posted on her Instagram story.
Dumont presents an interesting potential fight for Nunes amid Harrison’s injury-related hiatus. Winner of six consecutive fights, Dumont most recently outpointed Ketlen Vieira by split decision in November, and her next fight remains up in the air.
As of this writing, Nunes hasn’t responded to Dumont’s callout, and UFC 324 remains without a solution for the now-defunct women’s bantamweight title showdown. If Nunes doesn’t get a replacement opponent, Sean O’Malley vs. Song Yadong could move into the UFC 324 co-main event slot.
