And then, of course, there’s John Lineker, a long-time contender at flyweight who has recently found new life in the bantamweight division.

Over the course of the fight, which was contested entirely on the feet, both brick-fisted bantamweights had their moments. In the end however, Lineker walked away with a hard-fought split decision – an outcome that is likely to be debated for some time.

Friday morning at the ‘UFC Fight Night: Portland’ early weigh-ins, three fighters missed weight ahead of their scheduled fights Saturday evening. One of the three men to miss weight was UFC bantamweight John Lineker, who will be fighting in the main event of the card against John Dodson. Lineker, who sits at #3 on the UFC’s official bantamweight rankings, now holds the record for the most times missing weight in the history of the UFC.

The UFC announced an exciting bantamweight matchup that is bound to be a war as John Lineker is set to take on Michael McDonald at UFC Fight Night 91. The fight takes place on July 13 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. McDonald vs. Lineker will be featured as the co-main event ahead of the headliner that will feature Tony Ferguson and Michael Chiesa.

With less than a week away, a main card bout for UFC Fight Night 83 has taken a turn for the worse. A bantamweight bout featuring John Lineker and Cody Garbrandt will not be taking place due to Lineker having to pull out of the fight due to dengue fever, according to MMA Junkie. Dengue fever is a disease caused by mosquito bites in tropical areas. Lineker who is from Brazil tweeted his apology to Garbrandt saying, “I apologize @Cody_Nolove,I know just how bad do all preparation and can not fight,we all went out harmed.”
