Germaine de Randamie refuses to fight Cris Cyborg, willing to let UFC strip title
Scott Hernandez - May 27, 2017
Since Germaine de Randamie won the UFC women’s featherweight championship by defeating Holly Holm earlier this year, Cris Cyborg has continually called for a fight against the champion. Despite Cyborg’s persistence, de Randamie, the UFC, and Cyborg have been unable to come to an agreement. In an interesting statement released to MMAJunkie following rumors of de Randamie vacating the belt several weeks ago, de Randamie’s manager revealed that his fighter would be willing to even potentially go as far as to let the UFC strip her of her belt:

Fighters rally behind Cris "Cyborg" Justino after Angela Magana incident
Tom Taylor - May 24, 2017
Over the weekend, the UFC flew some 400 of its fighters out to Las Vegas, Nevada for a special athletes retreat. During the events of the weekend, UFC featherweight star Cris “Cyborg” Justino had a run-in with UFC strawweight Angela Magana, which ended with Cyborg punching and visibly rocking Magana. Since then, Cyborg has been cited for battery for punching Magana. She also shared a lengthy statement on cyber bullying – it was Magana’s cyber bullying of her that led to the incident – on social media. See that statement below:

Cris “Cyborg” Justino has not since September of 2016. This, however, is not for lack of trying. Over the last few months, the destructive featherweight star has been ceaselessly campaigning for a fight. Cyborg’s first choice was a scrap with reigning featherweight champ Germaine De Randamie, who she was keen to fight at UFC 214 in Anaheim. When this bout began to look unlikely, however, Cyborg shifted her attention to reigning Invicta featherweight queen Megan Anderson, who she said she’d like to fight on the same card.
Cris Cyborg talks frustration with inability to find opponent
Scott Hernandez - May 20, 2017
Former Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg has been absent from the Octagon for nearly a year now. In 2016, Cyborg made her UFC debut against Leslie Smith in a highly anticipated catchweight fight. Cyborg won the fight in just under 90 seconds, defeating Smith via TKO. In her next fight, Cyborg entered into the Octagon again for a catchweight fight as she fought Swedish striker Lina Lansberg. Despite enduring a brutal weight cut, Cyborg picked up a 2nd round TKO win, extending her UFC record to 2-0. Several months following the win over Lansberg, Cyborg was notified of a potential USADA anti-doping violation as a result of a substance taken to help her recover from the brutal weight cut leading up to the Lansberg fight. While Cyborg was briefly suspended, she was then granted a TUE in February, and her suspension was subsequently lifted.

Cris "Cyborg" Justino takes a page out of BJ Penn's book in latest callout of Megan Anderson
Tom Taylor - May 2, 2017
Cris “Cyborg” Justino is widely considered the best female featherweight on earth. Yet she is not the UFC women’s featherweight champion. That honor belongs instead to Germaine de Randamie, who won the belt with a hard-fought January defeat of Holly Holm. Given Cyborg’s status as the consensus best fighter in the division, she and her fans have long suggested she deserves a crack at De Randamie, and the UFC women’s featherweight belt. Unfortunately, De Randamie has been something of a ghost of late, giving little in the way of information as to when or against whom she might next defend her title.
BREAKING | Cris "Cyborg" Justino and Megan Anderson agree to July showdown
Tom Taylor - May 1, 2017
The UFC women’s featherweight division is in disarray. Since winning the inaugural title with a controversial January decision over Holly Holm, reigning champ Germaine de Randamie has been something of a ghost, revealing little in the way of information as to when or who she might fight next. At the same time, former Invicta champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino – the consensus best fighter in the division – has been chomping at the bit for a shot at the absentee champion, while reigning Invicta featherweight queen Megan Anderson has been patiently waiting to get the call for her UFC debut. As I said, disarray. On this Monday afternoon, the chaos-ridden division seems to have gotten a sorely needed injection of order.
Cris "Cyborg" Justino to begin training camp for UFC 214
Tom Taylor - April 23, 2017
Over the last few weeks, UFC featherweight star Cris “Cyborg” Justino has been angling hard for at shot at reigning featherweight champion Germaine De Randamie. The Brazilian destroyer is keen to make this fight happen at UFC 214, which goes down on July 29 in Anaheim, California. Unfortunately, Cyborg hasn’t had much luck getting the UFC 214 title shot she seeks. This has caused her to grow increasingly frustrated, even conceding that she’d be willing to fight Invicta champ Megan Anderson in a non-title fight to participate on the card, and asking the UFC to release her if they can’t find her a fight.

Germaine de Randamie vs. Cris "Cyborg" Justino UFC 214 rumors get shut down
Tom Taylor - April 18, 2017
If you’ve had your finger on the pulse of the MMA world today, you’ve likely come across the rumors that featherweight destroyer Cris “Cyborg” Justino would be getting her long-awaited title shot against reigning champion Germaine de Randamie at UFC 214 this July 29, in Anaheim, California. While Cyborg has made no secret of the fact that this is the fight she wants – and the location she wants it to occur in – these rumors are a bit premature.
Report: Cris Cyborg has a unique clause in her UFC contract that is time sensitive
Russell Ess - April 18, 2017
Cris Cyborg is without a doubt one of the biggest stars in mixed martial arts and her contract with the UFC is literally counting down. According to a report by Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting, multiple sources have said that Cyborg has just two fights left on her UFC contract. What makes things even more interesting is that there is a special clause in her current deal that that ends her contract with the UFC in October 2017 regardless of how many fights are left on her contract.
De Randamie vs. Cyborg title fight likely not happening at UFC 214, Cyborg now wants July bout with Megan Anderson
Tom Taylor - April 12, 2017
Having defeated Leslie Smith and Lina Lansberg in the UFC’s Octagon in 2016, Cris “Cyborg” Justino is now firmly embedded as a member of the promotion’s roster. As such, she was recently asked to vacate her Invicta featherweight title, which in turn meant that interim featherweight champion Megan Anderson was promoted to undisputed champ. No longer tied to Invicta, Cyborg has recently had her sights set firmly on Germaine De Randamie, who captured the UFC’s inaugural women’s featherweight title with a decision defeat of Holly Holm earlier this year.
Bellator boss Scott Coker gives statement on possible free agency of Cris "Cyborg" Justino
Tom Taylor - April 11, 2017
Yesterday afternoon, in a statement to BJPenn.com, UFC featherweight star Cris “Cyborg” Justino discussed her current inactivity, her hopes for a UFC 214 fight with reigning featherweight champ Germaine de Randamie, and her intention to fight out her current UFC contract and ‘re-evaluate the situation.’ “If [Germaine de Randamie] is not healthy enough to fight at UFC 214 in Anaheim, I don’t want an interim belt,” Cyborg said in this statement. “When the UFC asked me last January to fight her for the belt, I explained to them I would, but needed a March date because my body was still recovering from two weight cuts to 140lbs. So I know what it is like to want to accept the fight, but needing additional time to heal.”
