Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh was a guest on yesterday’s edition of The MMA Hour where he spoke to host Ariel Helwani about the recent standoff between the UFC and his pupil “Mystic Mac”. McGregor had recently stated on Twitter that he was “back on” July’s UFC 200 fight card. However, UFC president Dana White quickly addressed McGregor’s tweet saying that it was not true.

It seems like the story for UFC 200 will sourrond UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor until the event actually happens. Perhaps even then, everyone but the UFC may not be able to understand the decision to not have “The Notorious” on the card. UFC President Dana White spoke with TMZ late Monday on his way to watch Paige VanZant’s routine on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” and spoke about the latest on the situation and McGregor’s odd tweet that he was “back on” for UFC 200.

It is without a doubt that UFC featherweight Conor McGregor has all eyes and ears on him as the story of UFC 200 continues on to the next chapter. McGregor tweeted late Sunday that he and the UFC came to an agreement and was back on the UFC 200 card after being pulled off for refusing to take part in media obligations for the fight. UFC President Dana White later said on Monday to TMZ that nothing has changed since pulling “The Notorious” off the marquee UFC 200 card.

The Conor McGregor and UFC 200 story continues on after “The Notorious” tweeted late Sunday that he was back on UFC 200. Monday came around and Dana White denied McGregor’s claim and stated that he has not been put back on the marquee card. McGregor was spotted getting on a plane, likely leaving Iceland where he has been training with his team. McGregor’s longtime coach John Kavanagh spoke on the MMA Hour on Monday and acknowledged that they were no longer all training in Iceland.

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor took to Twitter last night to announce that he was “back on” July’s UFC 200 fight card in Las Vegas. Well according to UFC president Dana White, Conor’s tweet simply is not true and the Irish superstar will not be fighting at UFC 200 on July 9. His words to TMZ:

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor shocked the MMA world once again tonight as he announced that he is BACK on the UFC 200 card. McGregor was pulled from the card after refusing to complete his media obligations for the event. UFC President Dana White stated at the UFC 200 press conference on Friday that it wouldn’t be fair to McGregor to skip out on his obligations, when other fighters traveled from around the world to attend the press conference.

While Diaz’s new opponent wasn’t announced, UFC President Dana White did explain that the door was now closed for McGregor to fight at UFC 200. There has been much speculation about what the UFC will do for the main event of UFC 200 on July 9th after it was announced that Conor McGregor had been pulled from the event for refusing to fulfill his media obligations. McGregor released a statement on Thursday announcing that he isn’t retired, and explaining that he was still prepared to fight at UFC 200, but wouldn’t interrupt his training for a UFC 200 media tour.

By now, the MMA community knows that Conor McGregor ‘retired’ from MMA on Tuesday. Following that, The UFC announced that McGregor had been pulled from his UFC 200 main event fight with Nate Diaz for refusing to fulfill his media obligations. McGregor then released a statement on Thursday explaining that he wishes to focus on training rather than doing excessive amounts of promo work for UFC 200. The featherweight champ also explained that he was willing to fight at UFC 200, but that he wouldn’t do promo work at the expense of his training. McGregor then ended to announcement by stating that he isn’t retired. While UFC President Dana White stated that Nate Diaz would be flying to Vegas to discuss new opponents, it appears that is no longer the case.

While many take the UFC’s side and believe that McGregor should fulfill his media obligations for the July 9th event, others believe that McGregor should be allowed to focus on the fight itself rather than the promotional aspect of the event given the promotional work he has done in the past.
