Friday evening news broke that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar had failed a random USADA drug test back in June prior to his UFC 200 scrap with Mark Hunt.

Despite the UFC waiving the mandatory 4 month transitionary period for fighters coming out of retirement, during which they are subject to random USADA drug testing, USADA managed to test Brock Lesnar 6 times in 1 month leading up to his UFC 200 fight with Mark Hunt. Saturday morning, USADA spokesman Ryan Madden revealed to Fox Sports that Lesnar had actually passed all of his other drug tests leading up to the event.

Friday evening, it was revealed that the US Anti-Doping agency had informed the UFC of a “potential anti-doping violation” for Brock Lesnar stemming from a June drug test. Lesnar’s opponent for UFC 200, Mark Hunt, was quick to release a statement on the matter, demanding the UFC give him 50% of Lesnar’s massive purse for the event, or release him from his contract.

Less than a week after Brock Lesnar’s triumphant return to the Octagon at UFC 200, where he defeated Mark Hunt via unanimous decision in the co-main event of the historic card, it was announced that the UFC was notified of a potential anti-doping violation for Lesnar stemming from a June 28th drug test. It didn’t take long for the UFC to release a statement on the situation through UFC.com:

When it was announced that Brock Lesnar would be fighting at UFC 200 against Mark Hunt, the former heavyweight champion immediately became an active fighter in the eyes of USADA. While Lesnar was able to avoid the 4 month period of random drug testing prior to his UFC debut, he will now be subject to random testing until he officially announces his retirement. Following his UFC 200 win over Hunt, Lesnar sounded as though he would be open to fighting in the Octagon again in the future.
