Former UFC and WEC lightweight champion Benson Henderson made his Bellator debut on Friday in a five-round welterweight title fight against Andrey Koreshkov at Bellator 153. Henderson found that the Bellator champion had a lot to offer and gave “Bendo” trouble in his Bellator debut. Koreshkov connected with a hard knee to Henderson’s head at the end of round 1 that put the crowd on their feet.

While UFC President Dana White may have stated that there is no rift between Conor McGregor and the UFC, there is no doubt that there appears to be tension between the UFC brass and McGregor. Ahead of the biggest event in UFC history, McGregor refused to fulfill his media obligations for UFC 200, leading the UFC to pull him from the July 9th event. McGregor also announced his retirement from the UFC, which could force the promotion to strip him of the featherweight championship.

Bellator has established themselves as the biggest competitor to the UFC, with acquisitions such as Henderson, Matt Mitrione, Phil Davis and Josh Thomson being some of the big names that have jumped ship from the UFC to Bellator.

With less than 2 weeks until fight night the UFC is scrambling to fight a replacement opponent for McGregor. Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, fresh off his submission win over Alex Oliveira on Saturday, has offered to take the fight. In addition, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis has also offered to step in on short notice and face McGregor.
