As everyone knows by now, UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos has pulled out of his UFC 196 lightweight title fight against Conor McGregor on March 5th. With less than 2 weeks until fight night the UFC is scrambling to fight a replacement opponent for McGregor. Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, fresh off his submission win over Alex Oliveira on Saturday, has offered to take the fight. In addition, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis has also offered to step in on short notice and face McGregor.

The news of Benson Henderson stepping away from a new contract with the UFC to sign with Bellator MMA is still big news in the world of mixed martial arts. The former UFC and WEC lightweight champion is looking to add a third MMA title to his list of accomplishments as he takes on Andrey Koreshkov for the Bellator MMA welterweight championship on April 22nd at Bellator 153 in Connecticut. “I think Andrey has a lot of good kicks. He’s been working on his grappling,” Henderson said in an interview with MMA Mania. “I intend on leaving the cage with my hand raised and a new belt to add to my collection.”

Earlier this week it was announced that former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson had signed with Bellator MMA rather than re-signing with the UFC given that his contract was up. Former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson shocked MMA fans as it was revealed that he will be leaving the UFC and had signed with Bellator MMA. Henderson was riding a 2-fight win streak in the UFC that saw him submit Brandon Thatch and most recently pick up a split decision win over Jorge Masvidal in South Korea. The 2-fight win streak was in wake of Henderson going on a 2-fight losing streak that saw him get KO’d by Rafael dos Anjos, and lose a controversial decision to Donald Cerrone.
