Aljamain Sterling discusses possible UFC title fight against Alexander Volkanovski

UFC veteran Aljamain Sterling has given his thoughts on a possible showdown between himself and Alexander Volkanovski.

For the longest time now, Aljamain Sterling has been in a difficult position with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He has made it crystal clear that he isn’t too pleased with his current spot in the promotion, but he will have the opportunity to get back in there and compete soon when he meets Youssef Zalal next month.

Sterling’s goal is simple: win a second world title, this time at featherweight, cementing his spot among some of the very best to ever do it in the UFC. Of course, given how stacked things are at 145 pounds, it’s going to be easier said than done.

In a recent interview, Sterling had the following to say about him possibly challenging current champion Alexander Volkanovski.

“Me and Volk, we’re two technicians,” Sterling told MMA Junkie Radio. “We would put on a masterclass of MMA. I really do believe that. So, that’s why that fight really intrigues me, and if they want to give me somebody else, I’m going to figure out and strategize a way how to beat a guy like that.

“Whoever they put in front of me, I’ve never told anybody no. I know Volk likes to stay active. I’ve done everything these guys have wanted. I don’t know what else they want from me. Just please give me a shot. Give me a fight to earn my shot again, and we go from there.”

“The rematch kind of slowed everything up,” Sterling said. “Not kind of, it did slow everything up for everybody. I really think that they thought that he was going to be able to get it done the second time around, the champ proved them wrong and stopped him again – even worse this time.”
