Nights like this evening, which produced a massive upset in Andy Ruiz Jr. defeating Anthony Joshua, are why Joe Rogan loves combat sports.

The popular UFC commentator took to Instagram shortly following Ruiz’s seventh-round TKO victory over Joshua with the following assessment of the shocking upset.

“Nights like this are one of the many reasons why I love fights. Weird shit happens when people punch each other in the head. Most of the time when people ask me ‘who is going to win?’ I say, ‘I don’t know. That’s why we have to see them fight.’ I say that because I’m being honest. There are windows in time where you’re convinced you know the outcome. Where a king has lain waste to all who challenge his dominance, and you’re SURE he’s going to win a fight. Then, someone like Andy Ruiz Jr. comes along and flips the whole thing right on its fucking head and shocks the world. I LOVE shit like that. Congrats to Andy Ruiz Jr. on an amazing victory.” – Joe Rogan

The UFC commentator was not the only member of the MMA community to weigh in on tonight’s Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Anthony Joshua fight. Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor also took to social media to congratulate the newly crowned heavyweight champion, Ruiz.

Of course fellow boxers also weighed in on tonight’s action. Both Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder shared their respective takes on the Mexican’s massive upset over the heavily favored British fighter.

Ruiz was able to score four knockdowns, including two in the third round, in his fight against ‘The Rent Collector’.

With the victory, Andy Ruiz Jr. now holds the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles.

Meanwhile, tonight’s setback served as the first in the career of Anthony Joshua. He is now 22-1 overall.
