Claressa Shields and Cris Cyborg trade barbs as boxing fight talks reignite

In a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Shields didn’t hold back when asking about a potential fight against the former UFC champ.

“What a bum, talking about she’s offering me $2 million for a fight,” Shields said of Cyborg.

“Cris Cyborg can’t box! I beat the s— out of her, and I wasn’t even trying. Didn’t have a mouthpiece or anything, had some Nike shoes… I was trying to show her some boxing stuff but she wanted to get in the ring and spar. She quit in four rounds! She was like a deer in the headlights in the fourth round. D— near begging me not to knock her out not to stop her…

“I can fight you with one hand and beat the dog s— out of you. Stop playing!”

In a recent tweet, Cyborg pitched a solution to her ongoing bad blood with Shields.

“1,000 ways to say no to a fight and only 1 way to say yes,” Cyborg responded to Shields.

“Weird flex considering it was you who called me out to a boxing fight. August you’re fighting 160, I’m fighting 145. End of the year we can meet at 154 [pounds].”
