“El Cuckoo” Tony Ferguson and “The Motown Fake” Kevin Lee trade insults on Twitter

On October 7, in the main event of UFC 216, streaking lightweight contender Tony Ferguson will battle rising star Kevin Lee for the interim UFC lightweight title. It should come as no surprise that the two dynamic lightweights are exchanging plenty of verbal heat in the buildup to this anticipated scrap.

The pair’s latest exchange occurred on Twitter, where Kevin Lee got things started, assuring that he’ll dominate Ferguson on the mic when it comes time for trash talk.

“Best believe I’m making 🔥🔥 af,” Lee said on Twitter. “We all know it ain’t gonna be El Cuckoo driving this thing. Just wait till we got mic time.”

From there, Ferguson quickly responded, referring to “The Motown Phenom” as “The Motown Fake,” and calling him “the smartest dummy in the UFC.”

“Motown Fake,” he said. “Smartest Dummy In The [UFC] That Thinks He’s A Comedian… The Joke Is On You… See You Oct 7 Ese. Thee El Cucuy**”

Ferguson will enter this fight on a fantastic, nine-fight winning streak. This streak is highlighted by wins over top flight foes like Danny Castillo, Abel Trujillo, Gleison Tibau, Josh Thomson, Edson Barboza, Lando Vannata and most recently, former champ Rafael Dos Anjos.

Lee, meanwhile, will enter the Octagon at UFC 216 on an impressive, five-fight run, having recently bested Efrain Escudero, Jake Matthews, Magomed Mustafaev, Francisco Trinaldo and lastly, Michael Chiesa.

The winner of Lee and Ferguson’s interim title fight is expected to fight undisputed champ Conor McGregor at some point in the near future, though the Irishman’s plan for a rematch with Nate Diaz casts some doubt on this possibility.

UFC 216 will be co-headlined by a heavyweight scrap between former champ Fabricio Werdum and brick-fisted contender Derrick Lewis.
