When the UFC was first created, it was initially promoted as the tournament to prove which Martial Art was truly the most effective. Now, in 2017, with nearly every professional fighter well versed in various martial art disciplines, discussions of ‘could a female fighter compete with a male fighter?’ have begun to emerge, such as during the reign of Ronda Rousey.
One UFC gym in Torrence, California decided to make things interesting by taking 12 year old Teyah Gutierrez, who has trained in all aspects of MMA for three years, and pitting her against two adults in various skill-based MMA contests, including a brief round of avoiding Gutierrez’ punches.
Interestingly enough, Gutierrez manages to defeat the two adults in the skill based competitions with ease, before then proving herself in the round where her ‘opponents’ must avoid her.
